  1. Before anyone freaks out yes its a expensive norbar wrench but its been on production line for a few years and would no longer hold a calibration this was the perfect retirement for it.
  2. Built this for an old workmate who absolutely is the epitome of "everything is a hammer" so much so all torque wrenches got referred to as torque hammers on site. It still functions and will dampen shock if you adjust it down , pretty cool kind of dont want to give it to him.
  3. Liking the "Billet Timber" coil cover you could be onto a trend there if you get some clear coat on it.
  4. Something has happened. Ive combined this with my sons now retired motorized mobility scooter as he just got to tall for it but it had a very stout chassis. Quad front is welded on seat will be dropped down heaps and moved back, axle placement will settle where it functions best and gives enough leg room. Robin engine will go on to work out kinks but vtwin is been sat in as i go so it fits for when im happy its all going to work.
  5. Grind all the paint off....... rust is lighter than carbon fibre.
  6. Haha "its an elaborate solution to a problem that never existed" Its the one thing that i can always fuck with and get instant results for fuckall money. Its actually bloody sweet to ride now though i would like to drop some scooter body panels over it too hide all the shit going on.
  7. Could you use a centrifugal blower or even a roots supercharger and spin it with a briggs or something? Even a small one should move plenty of air for a single cylinder.
  8. Section 6 if you still need any clarification, buy a .5 meter 1 ton roundsling from Cookes and 2x rated bow shackes 2+ ton so they arent too dinky. Should serve you well for decades.
  9. On my supercharged vx i scored a full Remus system basically the same pipework as an HSV System but has a single twin in twin out middle muffler that tucked well up in the tunnel. The rear muffler was also twin in twin out with slip joints it sounded awesome with the back muffler off dumped at diff but was a bit to loud. The whole system though was quiet (for a performance system) had a real deep mettalic sound to it obviously flowed well. Tempted to replicate the remus system with a bigger middle muffler and v banded big muffler at back so it flows well and is quiet but can drop the back off for noise and max flow without it been too loud, these things shriek with the boost wound up!
  10. Secured a job with a company vehicle so can afford to get stuck into this and have it off the road soon. Current plan is to pull loom off l67 and track down a stock vy ecotec loom and extend the required connections injectors throttle body etc, maybe fit some new plugs if they are crunchy. I want to get a intercooler plate under the blower before it goes in as well they are $1500 so will need to find that first, this alone should give a 50kw gain over stock. Tossing up between a stock twin HSV v8 exhaust, and building a 3.5" single system unsure if i want some noise or dead quiet the supercharged engines actually sound alright but i do like the idea of a sleeper.

    best antifreeze

I used to run genuine Toyota coolant in my Triumph seemed to work nice no sign of rust after 18 months on. (The red stuff) I did get given 50 litres of the stuff for doing work experience as a teenager there and the triumph so i am a bit biased.
  12. That skull would be an ideal night light put it on a motion sensor next to your kids bed.
  13. Your building a motorcycle version of this then?
  14. Dragged home a very sad Alloytech tonight its seized but will donate all its sensors ignition coils, possibly valve springs for my scooter. And also some bolts for the supercharged engine that i seem to be missing If anyone needs some Alloytech longblock parts pm me as its off to scrap as soon as i have picked its bones.
  15. Back to where id place them? Level with my top 3 their a great tool look basic but are quite a clever design. I cant afford one also been a consideration.
  16. I bloody love the Stahlwille Manoskop torque wrenches easy to set and they unload when they get to torque. Really nice mechanism but ultra spendy. Their digital stuff is cool but i do have a box of dead ones at work that have come in from various BMW shops.
  17. A stubby adapter like a 3/4 to 1/2 wont do too much on a manual wrench a long extension isnt ideal but if you have to for access id say its ok. On a impact tool though holy shit you can lose half of your torque output through 2 adapters let alone a extension. I work for HTC we aren't an agent but we service norbar gear and carry parts the guy at Norbar is helpful as with parts and any technical questions on new stuff.... hes ex HTC as it turns out. If anyone is after warren and brown gear http://www.autoagencies.co.nz/ down south is best priced ive found.
  18. Been calibrating and repairing these things for about a decade now. Warren & Brown are about as good as it gets next is Norbar then Teng. I own w&b and Norbar, they can be rebuilt parts are cheap and available and are fully adjustable.
  19. Hey man yup still working on this gear might be able to source you one on my staff discount. 1/2" drive top out at 350nM for the flash brands its basically because the square drive will shear off. the cheaper wrenches use softer metal so are lower capacity again, cheap or not they all do same job accuracy wise genuinely surprised how accurate some of the cheap wrenches are. In saying that steer clear of Toptul its the brand that gives me most issues. Teng are good but the ratchet assembly are a little fragile if you use them top of the dial all the time, so go overkill when buying.
  20. Came up a treat! No before photos cause who needs to see gross v6 stuff. Will paint the rocker covers got plenty of colours at moment will need to decide. They'll go back on for now to make engine watertight so i can go to town with the degreaser again to get the rest of the gunk and paint the block.
  21. Stripped off the rocker covers, throttle body and manifold from throttle to supercharger for a trip to the parts cleaner at work, bit greasy externally but internally everything's tidy especially the rocker covers. Pretty sure this engine has had a leaking power steering pump or hose failure which has showered the engine in oil attracted dust and not been cleaned up. No warning bells so far everything looks good. Going to port the throttle body and inlet manifold to the supercharger as there's meat to spare for sure.... maybe a v8 throttle body if i can find one with a cable.
  22. Was expecting this to die 18 months ago thrashed snot out of it ran it on kerosene while i got it for free. Played with tuning etc its been through a lot and just keeps running doesn't burn oil or use water....... now ive said this it'll probably blow a head gasket on way to work tomorrow. Just needs to last till i get new engine in.
  23. Been running stock ECU so shouldn't be the tune..... will get some new oxy sensors as they're old as fuck and a new fuel filter just in case my my fuel pressure is a bit sad. Looks very lean.
  24. Randomly shit a coil pack on the ecotec last week limped home running on 4 fitted a spare complete ignition module from my hoard back in action and only hour late to work. Something must of caused it though so rockauto'd some new plugs what do ya know 2 melted electrodes so probably 2mm spark plug gap that'll do it.
  25. Dont know why i find this stuff daunting looks very logical. Ive found a transmission place in Auckland who supply alot of good quality parts and good stuff for gm transmissions. Think I'll throw my existing transmission in with the new engine with a shift kit and just be nice to it for a while as its done plenty of k's but isn't giving me any problems. I'll find a lower k box to rebuild with some upgrades at a later date then turn the wick right up on the engine.
