  1. There was a mini on Sunday with a Vtec conversion. Was lol's, jealous and confussed all at the same time. Also, I'm guessing you got this hime o.k.?
  2. Ok. Got a meet up at mine for the Shore Boyz, in the morning. Followed by a meet up at Slyvia Park at 8:00am. Meeting again at BP Bombay at 8:15ish and heading into Wheels together from there. Bring a chair.
  3. Any takers for this? Pretty keen to form a convoy of keensters and head down together. Cars are to be in the gates before 8:30 gates open to public at 9:00am. 3 parade laps of call cars on dispaly at 2:30 and then head home.
  4. Also approve of engine choice.
  5. There is a nice picture of this on the NZV8 Performance Car website/facebook page from the Caffine and Classics the other weekend.
  6. I have sooo much want for SA22.
  7. O.k. now I understand. Isn't the 701 pump unit the same on all Pianos? ie: couldn't you get one out of a Super Jet? Otherwise I would put it back together and see what happens. Your motor will either spin the prop or it won't but it has to be better then not running at all. I would also consider trying both the stoc prop and the Solas one, as there will be a difference and seeing as you are using a smaller engine with a bigger pump, you might want to de-tune so you don't cook you motor. Otherwise I could spend all night talking Jet Ski, or PWC's in your case (as only Kawasaki make Jet Ski's). *friendly joking* I'd be really interested to hear if it works or not. I miss my jet skis and wish I had brought them back to NZ.
  8. What are the pump/gaps like? If the gap between the pump and the solas is good (ie doent rub but can't get a peice of paper between pump and prop) then I would just go with what you have got. That Solas prop will hopefully be set-up for the sit down so I wouldn't really bother too much with the pitch. "it is what it is". I had Charlie Nott-Bower set up my engine once it was rebuilt and he custom made the prop for me, had it balanced etc. The prop cost nearly £300 to set-up ($600+nzd) and the prop is ALWAYS the last thing you do becasue you have to have the ski all set-up tuned etc so that you care getting the best prop for the job. However a lot of the guys i used to race with just used out of the box props to great effect. So If I was you I would get the ski together, see if it works before stuffing around with the prop. It's pretty quick to pull the pump out. And it would suck if you found out that there was no improvement with the bigger pump unit, or worse your getting mean calvating probles etc. Also some lol pics of me on Ants Piano.
  9. Did it have a Stainless Prop or the stock one and did it have any nicks/dents? A damaged prop even just slightly can take 5mph off you top speed and the stock props are crap. They are all down tuned. Upgrading to a skat-trak or Sola prop wll make a big difference. Also when you talking low horse numbers, you will struggle to spin that 155mm prop. Don't they come on the big sofas that are 4 stroke and supercharged etc? Also the design of the hull will limit your top speed doesn't matter how much hosres you have. For example my ski probably had a top speed of about 55-60mph even though I was well over 100hp. They shape of the hull was the restriction. What year piano is it? if it is an older shape then your hull might need hull extension front sponsons etc. Also this is what my mate Ant Burges did on a piano.
  10. So I gues we are talking Piano here (Yamaha) and are you setting this up for freestyle? Depending on what you want will depend on your pitch etc. In England I used to have a 750 sxi pro bored out to 800 running 46's factory dry pipe etc. My prop was a custom solas to increase top speed. All the Piano Huggers (freestylers) used to have a different prop pitch from us racers as they all want acceleration and no top speed. Shameless photo drop.
  11. Does it have to be a Rover Garage? Otherwise you could go and see Karl at Saunders Automotive on Asfield st, Glenfield. Tell them Seaweed sent you.
  12. Sunday 10th March 10am - 3pm. Bayswater School, Bayswater Ave, North Shore. This is the 4th Annual Bayswater Auto Show and Family fun day. It's basically a school fair with heaps of cool cars. It's run by the Cobra Car Club and there is always heaps of cool stuff to see and do. This is on the same day as the North Shore Jap Car meet, but for those of you that don't have Jap Tin or want to do something different then come along and help raise money for Bayswater Primary School. Show includes: Muscle and classic cars, hotrods and motorbikes. Exotic and prestige cars. Judged awards with designer trophies. Bouncy castle. Fair rides. Kids hotrod rides.. Live music. Food and drink. LICENSED BAR! ice creams, sausage sizzle and a kids make your own car competition. It's a great fun day out for kids of all ages and sizes! See you there!
  13. We should be there next year if they do the show. Ellerslie is our big one each year, but Ardmore is more fun. Still have openings if anyone else whats to bring a car along. Don't worry you don't have to hang around the car all day and talk to us old blokes/uncomfortable silences and there is heaps to see and do + free v drinks and food court. Could/should be a good day as the weather looks mint and they have been advertising the hell out of it!
  14. So, basically I have 10 cars booked for the JNC display this year at Ardmore and so far I have six confirmed cars, and a couple of solid maybes (depending on weather). So I'm wondering if anyone on here would be interested in coming along. Ideally cars will be in good condition and in simi nana spec, but I'll consider anything really. We had a fantastic display at Ellerslie this year, but for some reason anything '4's & Rotary' puts a lot of people off. Proabably as Ardmore also has drifting and drag racing (which isn't often performed in nana spec cars). Personally i though last year was ace and had a huge wide range of people there, and a lot of families as it is also an airshow. For those of you that went last year, the JNC display was behind the Oldschool display. Yes it is short notice, but I'm sure we can work something out. Hit me up! Normal car show rules apply, so you will have to be at Ardmore by a certain time and won't be able to leave early (usually 5pm) but you do get free entry etc. STRICKLY NO BOOZE and all cars will be searched on arrival. Entry under the JNC club does not enter you in the Show and Shine, that is a different (and expensive) entry condition.
  15. I like the 13b turbs plan best. You can easily get big horsey numbers with the right computer/intake setup/exhaust combo but still make it nice to drive. How much work is involved on the subframe swap and are you going to be doing all the work yourself?
  16. Awesome new engine set up. What are your plans for it?
  17. Needs more low. ASAP. Also you will need black fur communistic style hat while driving. And aviators. And bring it to Caffine and Classics tomorrow. And maybe to mine today. And now I will shut up.
  18. I was going to say "come to the dark side". But techically it's the "land of the rising sun side"... Anyway, let me know if you need a car (hell I'll even drag out the Morris Minor for lol's).
  19. You could bring one of my cars along if you want. Perhaps a wee drive in the 13b Turb's will convince you to turn Japanese..*grins* Also, went to the Sylvia Park meet up last week and we all got $1 chips and free Aioli with any burger purchase. The guy was stoked with the turn out and the amount of burgers eaten. Just sayin' is all.
  20. The parts numbers for the RX-3 stuff are no longer valid. Tried them a while ago with no joy, but will try my luck with the RX-7 ones. Thanks a heap for posting the numbers up!
  21. An old bloke in Ellerslie. Works from home and I was really pleased with the ones he did on the coupe. PM me for his details (It's not a secret, just don't want to post someone else's phone number on the internet) but yeah, he does them for $25 a wheel. It takes about an hour, which includes having a cup of tea and looking through his photo album of all the sweet cars he has done over the last 30 years. His name is Dave Hawkins.
  22. hi mate, don't suppose you have the parts numbers for the door seals/rubbers do you? I have been trying to get some door rubbers for my 808 coupe, and according to the interweb (which never lies obviously) all the repro ones are poos but you can use early (series 1,2 & 3) RX-7 door rubbers and trim to suit. Also RX-7's are cool.
  23. you should get some white walls on those steelies for lol's. ($25 a wheel...)
