Bearded Baldy Posted December 26, 2021 Author Posted December 26, 2021 Like the sound of that idea. Will get this diff sorted then see what i do next. Quote
dmulally Posted June 23, 2024 Posted June 23, 2024 Hi All, This is driving me nuts but I can't find a gearbox mount for this thing anywhere that fits. I got one from Rock Auto that was similar...as in it will bolt into the cross member but is way off on the bolt spacing and height is way off. I do have the option of cutting the old mount apart and welding on the tops but the rubber will be pretty close to it and I'm worried about melting it. The original one is a lot thicker where it mounts to the box too. Anybody know where to get a gearbox mount from? Quote
bigfoot Posted June 24, 2024 Posted June 24, 2024 The rock auto one looks to be for a 4 speed. I will have a look in shed tonight and will come out with either a mount or a part number. I have also seen the top holes slotted 1 Quote
dmulally Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 Hi All, Still chasing down that vibration and I'm up to getting the wheels rebalanced. They were supposedly balanced when I put the new tyres on but I'm running out of things to swap over. Anyway I'm having a more immediate drama with the 4g63 at the moment. I'm having problems with a really rough idle. I have bumped up the idle screw to help but it's not a fix. It will cut out when coming to a stop in neutral and cough and fart at low rpms. Driving is fine. I used some wd40 and when that didn't work I tried the laughing gas to check for a vacuum leak. Couldn't find anything apparent. I took out the idle screw out of the weber 32/36 ( @Bearded Baldy is that what it has?) and cleaned it and put it back in and no joy. I haven't touched the timing but when it's out it pings it's nut off at revs. Another thing which may be of note is that it has pretty bad run on/dieseling. I know how to fix that in a small block chev but not on this. Happy to take a video if that helps. Quote
Bearded Baldy Posted August 25, 2024 Author Posted August 25, 2024 Yeh that is a weber 32 26 dgav on there. As mentioned a while ago, I would try one of the other distributors, see if any of the part numbers are different. One of the motors i had in the spares pile was a 1.6 or 1.8, i could have cocked up and put the wrong one in when the 2.0 went back together. 1 Quote

I'll give it a crack however. Quote
Bearded Baldy Posted August 26, 2024 Author Posted August 26, 2024 Oh so this is a new issue? I read the post wrong, in my defense my morning coffee hadn't sunk in yet. The choke hasn't come on has it? When i bypassed it i just clocked it hard off. Do not see why it would move but you never know. Ooo0000ooo actually. Throw a new fuel filter on it. Memory says the one i took off had a bit of scaly shit in it, with the miles you are doing and the electric pump having good sucky sucky it could be full again? Quote
dmulally Posted August 26, 2024 Posted August 26, 2024 It has a new filter on it too. Zero issues at full throttle so Im not sure it's that. It's behaving like a vacuum leak. Quote
Bearded Baldy Posted August 26, 2024 Author Posted August 26, 2024 Well shit. There goes that idea. Quote
dmulally Posted August 26, 2024 Posted August 26, 2024 I think I solved it but will need to take it for a good run tomorrow. Looking positive so far though after a quick lap up the road and back with no dramas. I took out the primary idle jet (I think) and blew it out a few times and cleaned it out. Back in and idles nicely now. 4 Quote
dmulally Posted August 26, 2024 Posted August 26, 2024 Took it for a drive into town this morning and she was a peach. Thankfully I didn't have to rev the engine to stop from stalling at crosswalks with concerned pedestrians hurrying to get across. I think the front springs could lose an inch or two. Thoughts? 2 Quote
Bearded Baldy Posted August 26, 2024 Author Posted August 26, 2024 I think it is missing some big shiny hub centers! But definately could do with a drop in the front. Half a coil is approx 1 inch i think it said on the yankee forum. 1 Quote

dmulally Posted August 31, 2024 Posted August 31, 2024 So I think the vibration drama may have been solved. I got some Urvan wheels from a car yard for $25 each and swapped the rears over. Vibration gone. Super frustrating as they got balanced 6 months ago when I got the tires put on. Now I'm wondering if the Imp vibration is the same thing as the same place put those on. I've spent so much money trying to dial it out of both cars so if that's the Imp's issue then I'll get my tyres done further afield. The worst part is that until the tyres are rebalanced I have to drive around with skinny Urvan stockies. My social points in Martinborough have taken a dip that's for sure. But seeing as I'm Aussie and under the age of 90 I was already tanking. 3 1 1 Quote
dmulally Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Hi All, The day ended in the letter Y when it went in for a wof so I'm enjoying working my way through a long list of things that were fine the last couple wofs but are now suddenly life threatening. One thing it did fail on (was fine the night before when I checked ironically) was the parking lamp. Does anybody happen to know where I can get the front indicator assemblies from on shore? Not sure if they are shared with another mitsi model or not. Similar to an Imp actually which is a last resort as I have spares of those but will need to make mods. It did come with a spare but the parking lamp bulb assembly is rusted just like the one on it. 1 Quote
dmulally Posted March 15 Posted March 15 Everybody relax. I ended up robbing the brake light from my racing car Ill never finish and drilled out the rusted socket and jammed the new one in. Did some welding on the sill and brake balancing in the rear and will take it back for a recheck on Monday. 3 Quote
dmulally Posted March 15 Posted March 15 Whilst I'm here. My rear drums are locking up before the front discs. Any idea how to increase the fronts without backing off the rears? Or are thicker pads and backing off the rear adjusters a few clicks my only joy? Quote
bigfoot Posted March 15 Posted March 15 From memory, they have a proportioning valve thing in the back that works off suspension height. My brother had issues on his l200 when it got slammed into the weeds. There is a length part of the lever needs to be at ride height 1 1 Quote
