escort mk1 indicator fault

Hi All

I have a issue with one of my indicators, when i turn one side on the indicators just stay on with no clicking sound coming from the flasher unit,

the other side works fine and i can hear the flasher unit clicking so i guess the flasher unit is ok and there is only one which does both lights?

the car itself has done about 30km since its last WOF which was 3 years ago so i guess it could be corrosion from being sat in the garage

both bulbs are ok

Yes - one flasher unit does both sides. If it's orig yours is probably an old mechanical one. It's a cylinder about 30mm diameter and maybe 40 - 50 mm long if it's an old one. Replacing it with a new one won't hurt - it'll be tucked up under the dash somewhere. Turn the indicator that goes on and listen for it. Will just be plug on terminals.

Normally one side stops flashing if one bulb is out - if both bulbs are OK like you say, then yeah, I'd be cleaning up the bulb terminals and any earth wires you can find. I guess check that they are both 12v bulbs too - someone might have stuck a 24v in there.
