sr2
Some of the standards need updating, hobby car manual is slightly different and says a pushrod can't be welded or have any join apart from attachment of end fittings. The one exception to the no welding a pushrod is when using a complete OE unmodified one from a production vehicle Cheers for that; get the feeling some of the people responsible for this "hobby manual" idea are making it up as they go along? sr2
Oh for gods sake don't start this shit again LOL; sometimes it's a bit hard to ignore the elephant in the room.

Yowzer
If in doubt, discuss with your certifier. At the end of the day it's his name on the line so do it how he'd certify it.
sr2
Everyone else manages fine Sadly they don't; many of us have experience of the current cert system being a vague, unwieldy, ambiguous process. Why do you think there is such a shortage of certifiers, particularly those willing to put there name on scratch builds? Please don't get me wrong; I'm not knocking the certifiers (they have my admiration) I'm just suggesting the system they are forced to work with is in a mess. After 40 plus years of modifying cars I have difficulty in meekly rolling over and subscribing to the theory that the LVVTA is protecting us all from ourselves. Surely this subject is worthy of informed debate and surely "Oldschool" is a more than suitable forum.

Yowzer
This thread isn't for discussing the LVV rules, this is about shortening brake arms. As Clint is the only certifier here, the advice to take is his, and his alone. Otherwise discuss with your own certifier. If you feel like debating it, this is not the place as it'll make no difference whatsoever, aside from winding people up.

No offence intended to the brick he sounds like an OK guy, I should have started my own thread on the subject. I will however point out the ambiguity in the available information as shown in this post; i.e. we have two conflicting answers for the OP's original question? flyingbrick
I'm not offended, I just don't believe this is the place to discuss it (over and over) Write to the lvvta and they might be like OH MY GAWDS YOU ARE RIGHT
sr2
Like I said I'll start my own thread on the subject, once again my apologies again for not doing it sooner. The elephant in the room, (who's existence you deny?) is possibly the most pertinent issue that we all face, i.e. to modify any part of our cars we have to deal with the LVVTA). If we ignore it it won't go away!
sentra
while alot of people agree, every tech thread we have that this starts getting discussed in, blows out / goes off the rails, and ends up getting locked, to the detriment of having a purely technical discussion on xyz subject - hence the frustration you see above- for sure make a new thread (as long as its constructive)
