smokin'joe
have you nipped 1/4" off each of the vacuum lines and re-fitted ?
AllTorque
Do these have coolant running through them to control the auto choke or a bi metal strip?
CaMpylobacter
does the auto choke even function? best thing you can do with these now that they're getting old is bin the stock carb, get an adaptor plate from CDL autoparts down your way and slap a 32/26DGAV weber off a pinto on there. can manualise their auto choke (if you even need one) if it's not working too well better fuel economy seem to be able to get them to run a LOT nicer on them with ease, and a little peppier to boot mostly I think the only thing required is to up the size of the idle jet in some cases - ogre did a couple of swaps and foud they were very easy to get dialled in. be4ver
that lever thing should be on the top of that shouldnt it? looks to me like its some sort of choke thingo
Valiant
Often the they get gummed up with shit in the cooling system. Take the two coolant lines off the carb and blow through the two hose tails on the carb with compressed air, take the radiator cap off and blow air down both the lines to the carb and make sure it blows water out the radiator. Top the coolant up and see how it goes.
