NZford
Hi guys (& gals) A friend of mine has just spent quite abit of coin getting a megasquirt ECU wired up in his skyline. The problem now is he carn't find anyone in Chch who wants to tune it. Hes tried NZ EFI and a few others but everyone seems to shy away from megasquirt. Does anyone know of a place for megasquirt tuning in this neck of the woods? Thanks Will

NZford
Thanks for your help My mate spoke to him and yes he will tune megasquirt but he doesn't like it and recommend that he riped it out. Something for anyone thinking of going aftermarket ecu to think about thats for sure.
Yowzer
Just tune it yourself. That's what we do

NZford
Just tune it yourself. That's what we do I like this idea although I have trouble with my smart phone haha So hopefully oneday I will learn how. SPEC performance have tuned at least 1 I know of, apparently he was quite impressed, give them a shot. My mate rang them, said he had done a couple. Didn't really like megasquirt and wasn't overly interested in doing another. Cheers for the suggestion though.
Yowzer
Seems a bit strange that no-ones keen. I don't see how tuning a megasquirt is any different from anything else, but then I've never tuned anything else yet.
NZford
Yea I thought it was odd too. One place told him it could take a week maybe a month. I guess the shops are busy enough they don't need to "muck" with what they are not use to.
BlownCorona
that seems strange, i always thought ecus were more or less the same thing essentially some with a very added extras. but not something that should really affect tuning. especially for TUNERS..... mark105
ive looked at both a link and a MS software wise and the only reason i could think of why you would want to tune one over the other is because you are a computer retard and dont know how to find stuff in menu's which is a high possibility in probably many cases. aside from learning the software your dong the exact same thing no matter what ECU so all other theories apply. i think there is this myth with MS's that they are riddled with problems because there are people out there who assemble them craply and this is why tuners stay away from them as they are scared of how badly it could be setup and come back on them. which is fair enough. that said if you brought a MS learn about it and tune it your self, thats what they are made for. if you cant or dont want to you should have saved your pennies and brought a link and paid some one to do it. my 2c anyways.
