So got home today to find a box on the porch containing....

IMG015.jpg

they make the other headers look amazing haha

IMG016.jpg

spent a couple of hours pondering and moving the motor around and almost got it perfect, going to leave it slighly forward and get the drive and shaft / shifter housing extended unless I can find a remote shift box and it works. I lifted the drivers side 15mm and it now sits nicely off the rack, and clears the master cylinders ok so will lift the other side maybe 10mm to even it out a bit, and go hunting for some bigger rubbers so i dont have to use a stack of washers. if anyone knows of any that around around 85 -> 90mm sing out :D

IMG029.jpg

you can see here why I needed the ugly headers, will eventually get a custom set made up when the $$$s allow

IMG030.jpg

THe other side has all the aircon crap in the way (keeping it, just have to switch the top plates over on the compressors and its perfect.. score) but theres stiill enough space to just get my arms in.

Heres my trusty helper, making sure I dont screw too much up

IMG012.jpg

oh yea, sorry for the crusty phone pics.. I dont own a real camera :D

Fuck. Had a big update writting and smashed the back button on the mouse. Aweseome.

Havent done much recently as promised the better half we would save for a house deposit.. got preapproved for a loan so figure i can start spending on the car again

When looking at the struts for Euron8 I noticed some rust, turns out it has been done before and hit with some bog but not painted properly. I'm not sure if I can get away with some more bog or if I need it cut out.. I hit what i could with a wire wheel and some kill-rust, and will assess properly when I pull the screen to replace it.

IMG269.jpg

pretty crap photo, but thoughts on if it needs cut out? I have no experience with rust at all :?

Have ordered some more Metric to AN adapters for my fuel and PS lines as I cocked up the thread (1.5mm vs 1mm), and worked out the only big expenses left are:

Drive shaft

Exhaust

Getting the diff setup in the cressida housing

Some 215/35/19s for the front as the 235s dont have enough stretch/guard clearance

And a fan bracket to get rid of the hydraulic fan pump think im gonna import one from the states as they are well cheaper than trademe/toyota nz so if anyone is keen for one and wants to halve shipping hit me up

Also lifted the 1u up and got an engine rubber out so i can go down to BNT in the am and find some (taller) replacements. Im hoping 250000kms of holding the 7M up has squished them a bit and hopefully some standard ones will be sweet.

Cheers,

Tim

Preappoval for a house loan, i feel your pain. I had to spend a few minutes today justifying a distributor cap :(

Whats up with aircon? you keeping it?

Is painful, but will be mint to have something of our own that has more than a car+nothing man cave :D

and yea, keeping the Aircon - its hella easy as the compressors have the same oulet flange and are in roughly the same place. Looks a bit messy as I haven't degassed it yet so the old pumps hanging around. When the 1uz's in for the final time I will get the mobile aircon guy round to degas the old one, I'll unbolt/rebolt and get him to gas it back up.

Found some engine mounts that are the right height, are poly, and are cheaper landed than some standard ones from mountshop

They are for a Cadillac CTS-V so should be more than up to the task!

mountinside.600.jpg

also ordered this

$(KGrHqYOKi4E4CNO3Z9(BOKbl9l(j!~~_12.JPG

Was less than half the price shipped than the ones on trademe.. go fleabay

When the mounts arrive I'll pull it out and install the clutch (anyone got a W5x clutch alignment tool I can borrow in welly? :D ) and install the fan bracket/idler and drop it back home for hopefully the last time. A few nights of attaching wires and it should be started :D

Tried my hand at making up a hose today, I am using -6 braided teflon hoses for power steer and fuel, and -3 for my clutch line.

Started on the longest hose so I could make a cockup and not worry too much... seems that was a good choice as I used shit tape when I made the cut and the cut off wheel flared the braid out making it impossible to put the nut on. Learnt 2 lessons - put the nut on first, and use good tape

Checked and its about 3 inches longer than one of my fuel lines i have to make so not too much wasted hose.

Also got one of these to convert my standard fuel hose to AN fittings as it isnt long enough to move the filter out of the way of the head and header.

And the hose I made

my mounts turned up today, pretty stoked with them for 150usd!

IMG313.jpg

and in, now have 15mm clearance all round, so should keep the cert man happy

IMG314.jpg

Tried the crown header, it fits with about 2mm between the steering knuckle so need to get creative

In other news... house buying sucks.

but have gone conditional on this

garage.jpg

90m2 of garage/basement, double garage is behind (could fit 3 cars in) theres a house and a section too, but this is the best bit
