BS5620
Is it possible to connect a Smiths rev gauge RVI type to a blue top 4age. Have been searching the net all afternoon and haven't found a solid answer yet. I'm coming to the conclusion that it won't be possible!! Here is a wiring diagram I have managed to find. Mine is the middle one. Cheers
Valiant
Yeah I'm sure it can. Do you have one ignition coil? If you do you need to find the switched wire from the ignitor, run it through the inductive pick up on your tach and back to the coil neg. BS5620
yeah just one coil. there is a wire that runs from the neg on the coil to the tacho and then I have one wire that runs no where. How would I figure what one is the ignitor switched wire?
Valiant
It's hard to say with out looking at it. I'd try removing a wire at a time from coil negative and see which one stopped the motor.
kritta
just done the same exercise, needed a smiths 10k tacho for my 4age, but coil could not run it, so Robinson industries in onehunga, took all the guts out of it and put in a pcb for me, works awsome, looks awsome, but frick it cost an awsome price as well....$250.00 +... BS5620
Cheers kritta that was my next thought. So all Robinson did was to replace the insides of your smiths one to one that would accept the 4age set up?
kritta
yep, took all the old crap out, put in a pcb, then charged me like a wounded bull...but at the end of the day, i got what i was looking for, they are actually good guys, just the shit they have costs heaps....my entire dash ended up costing $1500.00...
