how does adjustable suspension work? escort

i got the coil over kit from trade me, but after getting a few bits from rally design it would seem i have bought a cast replica as aposed to the machined ally stuff rally design sell. still does the job. and i can always get rally design 1s sent over.

id strongly advise buying from rally design direct the dollar is strong so it works out reasonably priced even with the postage, the parts are good quality, it only takes 6 days to get here and if they make a fuck up they fixit (sent me wrong rate springs so sent me correct 1s freebie and told me to keep the incorrect 1s)

i initialy used them because they are in the town i grew up in and got all my bits for eskys b4 i moved here from them, but turns out they are GC's 2

still no love coming from the new suspension, pass side has a horible spring binding noise when i push car up and down, and the driver side the metal bushes that runthru the bearing top mount seem loose in the bearing again when i push it up and down. this is frustrating

if you "measure twice cut once" keeper springs are not necessary. however for your current situation i think they could be the answer.

doing what beaver etc said is the correct way to do it, cut your strut tube down, run a shorter body shock, hey presto super slammed with the height wound fully up

at your new desired "low" height you need to measure how much travel you have before you hit the bump stops, this needs to be at least about 35mm for FIRM spings, once you know this you can work backwards to see where you've gone wrong...

if there is no clearance then you will not pass the cert anyway, in which case you need to shorten the strut casing and put a shorter bodied shock insert in, (then while your looking for a shock to suit you can get one with a shorter rod so also keeps your springs captive)

what spring rates you running? cause i'd say anything over ~280pd will require keeper springs or you will not have enough droop to pass cert

then once you've got it sitting low low, then you need to address the horrible angle all your ball-jhoints are going to be sitting at, i dunno what is available in the way of roll center adjusters for escorts but i'd say there's something available out there

happy chassis grinding :bounce:

oh and d1 mule, its suspension you should measure at least 3 times
