#2 thieves are fucks.

#3 and while its very nice that in this case they are doing a good job, the cops aren't always a force for good.

I've never encountered an even minute amount of discrimination from Police in regards to old cars. Ever. I find the thought decidedly more preposterous for well maintained old cars.

where do you live? i want to see this utopia one day

also, another important fact:

kyteler is another another lucky chap...

just because you feel you have never experienced police discrimination based on the car you drive doesn't mean it doesn't occur.

i've never been raped by a police officer, doesn't mean it hasn't happened to someone else.

yes the the job of the police is tough, yes they should be commended for mopping up society's messes.

all the good they do doesn't cancel out the bad - i believe in giving credit when it is due, but i also believe in personal responsibility and see no reason why the actions of police officers shouldn't be subjected to scrutiny like everyone else.

the inability of the NZPD to accept and learn from criticism is what prevents them from being a truly excellent police force instead of just a good one.

This.

Any discrimination is usually started in the first 30 seconds of talking to the driver.

I have been pulled over in my shit looking old MR2 with no bumpers and a DIY tow bar on a road that doesnt really go anywhere so obviously out for a drive, brakes stunk and the car had dodgy rego.

Just be polite and don't show any attitude, help the cop where you can.

I drive away after a 5 min chat with my respect for police restored. Was only last year when I was still a teen too.

like i said previously, being polite goes a long way. unfortunately the officer sometimes has already made up his/her mind about you before you open your mouth.

i've had far more reasonable cops than bad ones. doesn't make up for bad ones though.

I've lived in Auckland and Invercargill.

Never had a problem.

I've been pulled up three times in my life-time, once when I was speeding (Speedo was out in a 280ZX.) Fair enough, I could have been in a truck and I still would have got pinged, I thought I was going 115km/h past some people in a passing lane, turns out I was going 135+. Another was I had my spotlights on in my Escort, as well as my headlamps. Just got told to not do that. Third was on a motor-cycle going over the harbour bridge so not relevant to cars at all and the bike was a 92.

Newest car I've owned was a 93 or 94 and I had it for about two weeks, everything has ranged from 1960's to 1980's.

I've dealt with the police for a while during my time as a recovery truck driver. They're mostly good cunts, during that time doing recovery work, impounds and all that lark, I never encountered any old car discrimination. I did encounter douche-bag discrimination, eg. if you're doing something illegal or reckless they do tend to focus on those people, as well they should.

A lot of the time police are reacting to calls from the public, maybe it's not something you've done in their eyesight but if they've been told that 'x' car is about and it is purported to have done something reckless, they'll monitor it, I wouldn't expect any less.

Of course there's bound to be some slip-ups, police are still human and prone to anger, jealousy, envy, frustration. Like I said though, in the amount of time I've been around cars and police, I've never encountered any discrimination towards older cars, only to idiots being idiots/themselves.

It's a pretty broad spectrum to claim and also entirely irrelevant to the story that was initially being told.

EDIT: I was somehow allowed to post this after the thread was locked? Moderator Life? Might have been because it took a million fucking attempts "Someone else has posted, you may wish to review".. blah blah blah.
