keltik
Have a philosophical question for all the old schoolers out there. I have 2 options with the wagon; Option 1: Purchase a 4.444 final drive gearbox and swap in a 4.111 crown wheel and pinion so I can get my cruising RPM down and give the car longer legs (add an extra $400 on the gearbox purchase price for this modification) 2600rpm @ 100kph Option 2: Purchase a 4.111 final drive gearbox with the updated casing (8 bolt bell housing as opposed to 4) and synchros. Fit to car, live happily ever after 3000rpm @ 100kph Both gearboxes are going to cost the same and both are from unknown cars. Obviously i can only spend money once, so if i spend an extra 400 on the wagon, thats 400 less going to the hatchback. Then again, time isnt an issue here and a 600rpm reduction at cruise is going to be heavenly. Then again, what if i fuck yet another gearbox after having spent 400 on modifying it. VOTE MY MINIONS! fuel
I would go for the strongest box. If they are going to cost about the same after you are going to swap the 4.44 box to 4.11 then you may as well just go with the strongest box which happens to be 4.11 to begin with. keltik
Ah I should clarify, the 4.444 box would have different ratios in it so once converted to 4.111 will give me a much longer box than one thats 4.111 to begin with
spanners
more accel = more bishes Basically 3k rpm at 100kmh is acceptable, minimise the time taken to get there
Bling
I thought cruise speed was 80 anyway?
