Abarth
Hey guys I have a set of sidedrafts that have had methanol run through them. Its left a white powder residue all through them, whats the best way to clean the methanol off the inside of the carbs? Carb cleaner? Soak in petrol? RUNAMUCK
I don't think methanol leaves any residue. More likely, the methanol has drwn moisture from the atmosphere, which has corroded the carbs creating the residue you've found.

RUNAMUCK
yup tis corrosive to many engine parts aint it? Methanol can fuck most kinds of rubber, but the corrosiveness to metals stems from it's hydroscopic properties. (Sucks moisture from the air) For this reason it rapes fuel tanks with a vengance. (Fuck knows how that E85 shit works, must have a 5 minute shelf life)
