Horse25
so if your using a w50 gearbox, what kind of bellhousing are you using? not a dellow?
peteretep
hard to believe that it wont turn a motor over, have you taken the starter motor to an auto electrician? from memory its about $175 to get a starter rebuilt
Elmo2003
nt sure on bellhousing as it was already on motor wen i gt both of them the starter motor turns motor over jst not fast and takes for ever to start (running 12.1.1 compression)
peteretep
Getting the starter rebuilt should solve the slow turning over

eke_zetec_RWD
i adapted a big block chev aftermarket gear reduction starter for my pinto. 2.5horse power! worked a treat! untill the raw power of the starter broke its own mounts. i will be re making it out of steel. turned it over at 200rpm easy. also just adapted a mitzi starter to fit a bda. (same patern as pint0) was also gear reduction but inline planetary gears. a big battery helps when using old technology shit tho.

Gaz
(running 12.1.1 compression) Thatll do it! You running forged pistons cause thats alot of CR for a pinto! Roadrunner do geared starters for around $250.. BUT I think from the above that your running a W50 not a Sierra type 9? If so then adaption is your only real choice. sholdowa
Some people add a switch into the ignition circuit so you can get it spinning before firing, due to the advance often necessary.
escy274
Try Auto Electric Spares in Henderson They modified a standard cortina starter for me I was running a little bit higher compression & it was melting starters. Just take in the starter you have & they'll modify it to suit. Bit exspensive, but well worth it
