peteretep
hey man what was the master cylinder you used? it doesnt look like it bolts up to the original flange like a standard unit? Does your car have the mk2 pedal box or mk1? what was the deal with the shaft?

Does your car have the mk2 pedal box or mk1? what was the deal with the shaft? It's off a land rover, 22mm bore, yeah vertical mounts, but got a good price on it so makes up for that, using a mk2 pedal box, as for the shaft, we found a bolt at the right length and welded it on to the bracket, as all it requires is a flat shaft end, Ive just bought a 1inch bore land rover master with the right mounting brackets etc, same type that QCADTA used, double the price though. can take pics if you want? peteretep
yeah man that would be great, im looking at ditching my booster too, I have also heard about using the 25mm land rover unit, any info on them would be great. Have you used your brakes at all? im really interested in finding out how heavy the pedal is how have you run the lines? did you use a proportioning valve at all? howcome you bought another master cylinder? QCADTA
pedals firm but still locks up under hard braking. just have to make a retaining bush for the actuating arm from the pedal as there is no internal circlip on the landrover m/c like the escort one. other than that a piece of piss to sort. peteretep
any pics of this stuff would be great , where did you guys get the master cylinder(part number?) and what did it cost? proportioning valve would be used if your rear brakes lock up before your fronts new valve parts? other than the master cylinder what else did you need apart from fittings? QCADTA
i didnt need a proportioning valve as the hilux rear end i have matches the landrover m/c. didnt need a thing, just changed it over with the bush i made.could draw a pic tomorrow. mine was $258 from memory. series 2 landrover. d.p.n.s
all ive ever done is just use the master cylinder from a mk3/4/5 cortina bolts up to the same holes and uses the same brake lines as the mk2 and for the rod i just measures the lengh i needed and cut the long barke booster one down. cheers dan
Raizer
all ive ever done is just usethe master cylinder from a mk3/4/5 cortina bolts up to the same holes and uses the same brake lines as the mk2 and for the rod i just measures the lengh i needed and cut the long barke booster one down. cheers dan Same way I did it, except I had to file the hole in the firewall out a few mm's to get the master to fit in. The Ford master cylinder should provide ample stopping power too, I ran a tiny little hillman hunter master cylinder for ages in my old van, pedal felt mint and it stopped sweet as -the hunter master is a single line out cylinder with a really small bore. Oh yeah MK2 Escorts, some Transits, Sierra's etc use the same master cyl as mk3/4/5 Cortinas (along with the same calipers and drums)
peteretep
ive rung around a few places and i think the land rover part number from PBR is P7810 which has a 25mm bore, but Ive just been quoted $81+gst, which is alot more than the $258 you thought QCADTA, dont suppose you remember a part number at all?? peteretep
NRC6096 is the later metric version of the same part number up there as far as I can tell I found this too, apparently a ford explorer unit does the trick as well, but i cant find any information on it, cylinder size etc, but you'd imagine it would be pretty big http://www.lrfaq.org/Series/HydraulicsA ... aster.html
