grdwalker
just drove the car back from getting the carbs tuned, twin 40s. and they said there was a fair bit of oil leaking and couldnt find the cause. on looking it seems to be sitting around the rocker cover, is this an obvious cause or just a symptom? grdwalker
i also need a fuel regulator to bring the fuel pressure down from 5psi for the carbs, brands, shops etc? what am i looking for?
sholdowa
pinto cam coversar bitches to get oil tight. I tighten up all the vertical bolts gradually first, then the rest round the front pulley... but it's all rust prevention so don't worry. The best regulator is the good old filter king. mk5corty
Just about every pinto i've seen has a ruined rocker cover gasket, probably from constant tappet adjusting and failing to change the gasket.
RT
actually it's the tappet covers themselves, all 2L escorts/capris/cortinas have the thin rim tappet covers which leak like a bitch with the cork gaskets. Get a Serria tappet cover, you'll notice the wide flat rim on it? It's the design fix which solves pinto oil leaks. It's the only way I ever got mine to stop leaking. Don't do it up too tight either!
