grdwalker
i know you can swap the suspension from the 2litres (leafs and struts) but does that mean you need new brakes? or are the two systems completely separate from each other? Gaz
huh what? From the 2l what? The RS2000??? Mk2 escort usually already has the large dia discs up front. The larger rear drums came out on RS2000, Ghais, and sports. I have a set of bth if you wanted to upgrade. Gaz
grdwalker
all the guides say the "2L" so i apologise if i cant be more specific (im referring to the spannerfodder pinto into eskie guide)
My name is Russell
Standard Mk2 suspension and breaks should be fine man
Raizer
I'm curious as to what "2L brakes" are, since the 2L Cortinas and some 3L Capri's have the exact same caliper with the same size master cylinder and disks as a mk2 Escort
grdwalker
i thought everything might have been stiffened a bit for the added "power"
Gaz
Cortina discs are thicker than escort. They are the same dia tho. Calipers the same. Gaz
BS5620
Cortina discs are thicker than escort In general is it better to have thicker discs?? or six in one half dozen in the other situation, I ask because check the difference between my cortina and capri ones!! Which would be best to use??
sholdowa
the thicker the disk, the more fade resistant they are... more metal to heat. If you are after an upgrade, the 2.8 crappi venteds, and a spacer for your calipers is a good option, and fit straight on.
Gaz
Capri and Cortina brakes are the same... except for the 2.8i injected capri discs. 2.8i capri discs are the same dia but vented. IMO unless racing the vented disc is not worth it. I run the capri/cortina thicker disc. None of these ,entioned brakes will give you any better braking than the standadr escort brake but they will help decrease brake fade which means you can brake at full force for a longer time.
