keltik
It's fun to have an engine where you can try wacky experimental stuff and if it blows up, you're left with a few hundred rebuild cost instead of thousands

tortron
Happy little accident. Ordered some gn125 indicators off aliexpress, they arrived and are about 1/3 the size they should be. So I'm taking the originals off the advgn, painting them black, and putting them on another bike. So that means the GN gets small indicators. Originals Massive 914g New ones 220g Looks OK (can't bring myself to say a GN looks good) Quite a bit of weight off it now without really doing anything
johnnyfive
My mind boggles, thats damn near 1kg in turn signals. For a bike that weighs what? 100kg? 1% of bike in indicators? wtf.
tortron
110kg wet i think it was and im aiming for 100. basically there but yeah, like 2% of the bikes weight is just in the stop light and indicators everything is built solid to last (except the frame)
tortron
i lost like 4kg from swapping in the lithium battery. so with the rear wheel swap, indicators, guard chop, and tail light swap, oh and im sure my pannier rack is lighter than the stock one, i must be doing alright.

tortron
Dug out my least broken dr125 parts bin Thought it was just really dirty, but it's actually coated inside and out with a factory black coating. Even still there in the combustion chamber and exhaust port. I cleaned up the outside a bit more and it was suzuki bronze under the black, but I think they all came out black. GN125 valves on the left, dr125 valves on the right 5.5mm stem vs 5mm stem on gn 30/26 vs 25.5/22.5 diam Also check out these valve springs They are way bigger/thicker than then GN. I can take the GN125 ones off by hand, just pressing down on them with something. The dr125 ones took quite a bit of force with a valve spring compressor to get the collects out. Not surprised guys say just run the outer spring
keltik
Wouldn't the smaller valves do less damage to your piston?
tortron
There was zero damage to the piston, just banana valves. Dr head has no squish bands so it's big bore not flat even tho they say piston compatible, I will actually use a high some piston for it to increase comp. Will see how this set up goes. Next is pumper flatslide from DR200 and exhaust that's not got a hidden tiny exhaust inside it
tortron
150kit, big cam, and dr125 head Single base gasket, single layer metal headgasket Have to take a bit out of thr intake valve pocket, I had already taken some out of the exhaust. Compression will be fairly low. There was a run of custom pistons for exactly this set up, a guy offered me a left over one a while ago, was quite a high compression. I will ride like this I think and see how it goes. I didn't want to lock myself into just 148ccs when if I change the conrod I have way more options Tried the big dome piston and won't work either. Deck height is above the head gasket. Needs a 4ish mm base spacer, which I might also make up on a spare engine, if the dome can be modded a little to clear the valves it might be an alright setup
tortron
The piston with the taller deck might be for egr heads, Ali express seller says they are for the barrels with egr (the boss is visible on the front of the barrel there). I have never looked into that set up, but if that's the case the head must be more open Gotta put the stator side back together and drop the sump strainer to see how many spiders are in it
tortron
Possible conrod swap for other piston options Gn125 Xr200 Ran some numbers on dr125 head (Internet says 21.5cc) with some Honda 65.5 & 67mm flat top pistons (14mm pin) and compression ratio would come in just under 8:1 Kinda wants something with a popup dome on it $300 for a wiseco 140cc 11:1 piston. It probably goes pretty well
