Ke36
hey boes wen ive been pushing my car round and getting on tow trucks it if you turn the wheels quite often the front springs (coilover conversion) will make a boing/twang (lol) noise sort of like they are twisting or turning or something? only happens when theres load on the springs,i.e doesnt happen with the car jacked up in the air any ideas whats causing it and how to fix it
lowlancer
Sounds like uncaptive cutties haha They'll just be sittin on their perches and getting twisted to the point that they jump out of position. Spring rates not right maybe?
plasticdash
could the top strut bearings be siezed/rubbing ?
Ke36
i do have the coilovers wound right down you can twist the springs when i jack the car up do i need to put more tension pre tension on them i thought when the weight of the car came down it would trap them
eke_zetec_RWD
the top spring mount should turn freely. id say its either fucked or made incorrectly
Ke36
yea top spring mount isnt turning at all i think they just have a large hole in them for the shock to go through not a sqaured off hole like factory ones that "locks" them into the shock i take it im guna have to have the top mounts made again? eke_zetec_RWD
the shock shaft does not make the top turn so thats not the problem. put some pics up, might just need a washer or something
Ke36
everythings still in the car and its at the tuners at the mo get it back b4 the weekend had another look at it when i was down there this arvo i think its a case of just needeing a washer or a spacer like you say so the only thing the spring mount touches with on the top hat is the bearing, rather than the whole bottom surface at the mo its just jamed right up against the whole thing
hotdog
just put some coilovers in and they do the same thing , will be interested on how you fix it so i dont have to bother trying to sort it out myself
