  2. talked to the certifier down the road and they are legal without cert (he did agree that they can catch you out )
  3. im thinking bout finding out what series head ive got and what ratio so i can drop an tsd in instead. must be somthing out there.
  4. has anyone had any experince with these , http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =288938447 bassically want to put one in my 2wd hilux as it has an open diff and gets stuck on a blade of grass and has poor traction in the wet (plus want to do some mean skids aye) i would just put an lsd in but they all seem to be very loose , also finding one for it is hard as its the new model hilux and all the wreakers are charging a fortune (2000 bucks) it will be mostly tarseal driving so want to make sure its safer than welding the diff up . cheers
  5. loving this build , closest ive got is kiting out a van but this is giving my all sorts of irrational ideas , keep it up !

  10. just put some coilovers in and they do the same thing , will be interested on how you fix it so i dont have to bother trying to sort it out myself
  11. had a play around with the ride height today cut a half coil out of the rear to get it sitting level (well 5-10mm lower in the rear now ) balloon tyres on the rear rub a bit but their only going to last a few more burnouts
  12. thanks guys , im goin to go hard and get the rest of the shit on today and hopfully give it a drive tonight !!! it has been a bit pricey to build , but the missus dont notice the money goin out if you skim a bit week to week , if she knew id be dead
  13. got the 5k together again , used some oversise pistons this time , got my crank nitrided , head got a three angle grind done on it , new valves with a new back cut done on them , whole engine balanced , new bearings ,shaved and polished the rocker cover , polished the thermo housing and water pump . put it all back in but she wouldnt start , turned out i hadnt put the dissy in right , so had another crack at that and she started first pop (neighbours must have loved that at 11pm sunday night with no exhaurst). still got to go buy a timing light , and tidy up the wiring a bit and she'll be ready to be run in . also managed to get some secondhand rca's and an oil cooler which ive put on . just need to find a decent brake setup now , im thinking wilwoods ? any one got any sugestions ? discussion viewtopic.php?f=18&t=11878
  14. got my coilovers , camber plates and swaybar mounted up in the weekend . also painted the engine bay finally (after 6 months).got most of the parts for my 5k rebuild so that will be the next mish . also looking for some rca's if anyones got any lying around . discussion : viewtopic.php?f=18&t=11878
  15. [quote I know Murray from Webber Specialties - he reconditioned my carbs and gave a talk at an Alfa club evening once. I didn't realise he had a dyno though, maybe he should be the one to retune the carbs after this project's over. he doesnt have a dyno but theres one over the road from him that he uses , so it can be quite pricey as you pay for his time as well as the dyno time ($300-400 for a tune )but its worth it
  16. dont read to much into that dyno result as i got a really low reading from the shore performance dyno , also found that they didnt really know what they were doing and didnt get much feedback from them . the dyno that murray from "webber specs" uses is good and he really knows what hes doing if your on carbs , hes in parity place in glenfield .
  17. just make your exhaust easy to swap , one for wof one for looks . mine exits just infront of the rear wheel in my starlet with on big resinator . for warrent undo it at the flange and bolt on the rest . good as well if you want to go on a long trip and dont want it droning away .
  18. just a pic i found while browsing http://www.kp61.net dont really have any info other than that i recon its all class
  19. had the day off today so spent the whole day woring on the starlet as well as picking up some goodies . have had some bits powder coated , crossmember , bumper irons and misc brackets picked up my double front sway bay with adjustable bottom arms went down to fraser cars and borrowed a tig and started welding up some of the misc holes in the engine bay left from brackets that ive removed also started rubbing down the paint in the engine bay with 400 grit wet n dry so i can start to primer even found a dyno sheet from speed source in walkworth , sorry photo isnt that clear but got to 81kw @7000 rpm it was still climbing but told him to shut it down as dynos give me the shits , will take it back up after im finished to see if theres any improvements (better be )

  21. the old girl had a few mishaps at the oldskool trackday earlier this year so im doing a full rebuild on the 5k just to make sure shes going to be reliable . so ive pulled it apart and ive found a few broken bits such as one cracked piston, scratched crank ,scratched bore. the plan is to do a complete rebuild with oversize pistons ,new nitrided crank, some more head work and some oversize valves also im going to fit my coilovers , double front swaybar and respray and deloom the engine bay abit . hopfully by early next year .
