OSC
so like my irs carina has um diff issues makes a strange clunking noise that gets faster as speed increases and only is audible at cruise under deceleration is quiet and under load is quiet. i thort maybe pinion shaft bearing on diff is dead as i pulled the diff out and all the teeth on all the gears are still there and are complete. but then i had a thort that it might also be a cv joint. with the diff out of the car once id cleaned out the diff (read washed out old oil with solvent) the axles were easy as to turn. but the pinion shaft felt quite tight and a little bit notchy. any ideas????? EFI_LC
Whats the oil like? any metal bits in it, any lumps in it? It may give a clue if something serious is happening.
