two_days_late
Got a few questions about these carbs as i've found these ones on trademe that i think will be alright: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Car-parts-accessories/Nissan/Engines-drive-trains/auction-131643236.htm 1.) Will these fit on my weber manifold, i presume they will? 2.) What choke and venturi size would suit my engine, (worked 1600 escort motor with fast road / rally cam) 3.) Will any of the parts from my weber rebuild kit be compatible with these carbs. 4.) Anyone wanna buy that manifod/what is worth. Cheers boes Matt
Raizer
1. Yes 2. 38mm chokes from memory, but am probably wrong 3. No 4. Not me at least lol
Testament
2. 38mm chokes from memory, but am probably wrong you are wrong, I don't think you can even get 38mm chokes for 40mm carbs, if you could they wouldn't work too well either as you wouldn't have much of a venturi. But you might have meant 28's and mistyped anyways.. I would think you should probably be looking at 32 or 34 chokes on a worked 1600. two_days_late
haha sweet cheers. Can get a set of rebuilt ones for $700 set up for the esky but then im gonna have to buy a filter too. The ones in the auction will be $500 but will probably be set up wrong for the esky. Hmm decisions. Matt

two_days_late
If they're set up for the 1500 datto how likely is it that they'll be sweet like that on the escort?
Gaz
Id try get the rebuilt ones for a bit less. $600 would be a deal IMO. It costs alot more than most people think to rebuild and rekit a carb with right jets & chokes etc. Rebuild kits are $60ish retail each carb and they dont have ALL the bits for a FULL rebuild. Plus then jets and carbs etc. If the rebuilt ones were setup to an engine similar to yours then would be a go. Depending on what cam/revs they were tuned to is prob the main thing to look for when asking about setup.
two_days_late
Just talked to the guy with the second hand ones and he rekons the carbs have been ported to match the oval port head or something so it sounds like they've been stuffed round with anyway. Think i'll just look to get a rebuilt kit already set up for my motor. Cheers boes Matt

two_days_late
yea i thought it sounded a bit strange that the carbs were ported, he knows i dont want the manifold though so dunno why he said that. ah well, think im gonna give them a miss. $500 for that setup is prob pretty sweet for someone with a datto though. Unclejake
I always tend toward Weber. The Delorttos preform perfectly well but you can't buy bits for them easily. Weber parts are still available new
two_days_late
Yea weber are generally more expensive so i thought they'd be a better carb but dunno. managed to get the ones in that auction for $400 with a few spares. I had a set of webers but i sold them for $400 coz i ran outta money which was a dum idea! still have 2 or so rebuild kits with heaps of parts for the webers so should be able to make some money back selling them off. just gotta see what parts are interchangeble first. Guy on trademe offered me 2 reconditined delortors for $700 so he must be able to get the rebuild kits from somewhere? must be after market shiz.
