mikuni
i want the sound of some sidy's and i think a set of side drafts with tumpets would look far better than a plenum etc. i also talked to a guy about putting black top quad throttle bodies on my 4age and he said waste of time you wont gain anything You should probably talk to a few more people before making your mind up then. CaMpylobacter
If it's a blietop, jsut bang it on stock injection manifolds etc. looks all good, and goes mean as whilst keeping good econmy. can't lose keep TVIS too, IMO, save sbottom end, and econmy. mine was doughy and sucked heaps mroe fuel with it unhooked
Guest sexychevette
One thing you guys haven't factored in on the carb setup is a dizzy, need to put a few $$$ aside to solve that problem.Callum 3au? lol i have no idea hahahahaha. 4afe? nah thats stupider. CaMpylobacter
can't use normal one?

mikuni
It wouldn't be hard to sort something out. I've seen literally sooo many setups on 4ages for carbs. These rang from simply putting a random suitable distributer in the powersteering bracket to using different distributers in place of the original. Also, simple electronic kits can be made up using the standard dizzy as a CAS effectively. But seriously, if you want the sound and feel of sidies then how can a standard plenum with the tvis system still connected compare to that? It will probably make the same power, but would you compare them to eachother?
mk2 gt
it is a standard engine so it got standard plenum
Spencer
jesus had a bluetop on carbs it sucked. carbs are fucking lush! but injection fuckin owns that shit. Perfect fueling at all times FTW. and my megasquirt was $200 mike and get rid of that slope fuck in your avatar
Gaz
I had 5k Dizzy on mine. Possiably still have one lying round.
Mike-e
3A distributor fits. just need to swap 4age gear onto 3A shaft and weld back up. just runs distributor backwards, easy - Zero wiring. still need to find means of keeping it still though. Mike-e
Also dunno about using tvis in carb setup, can see big butterflys making very nice de-atomisers in my setup i've still got the tvis plate in but with the 4 butterflys removed, for this reason. although if the 4age your running is a small port you wouldnt run into these troubles. CaMpylobacter
you'd obviously run without tvis butterflies in a carb situation
Mike-e
yeah, sounds good on paper, but im not sure how bad it would actually be, will put it on the ass dyno and see if its better with/without
Spencer
blue top without tvis feels faster because theres less bottom end, top end comes on and fells fast. Even on turbo setups tvis helps. Port velocity on bluetop is mud small port FTW. wheres those beers mike
mk2 gt
but if i take the butterflys out of tvis then tvis wouldnt not exist right? are gou saying its better to not run tvis than to fun it? i have the big port engine
CaMpylobacter
If it's injected with stock manifold, run it. if it's carb - don't run it. it wont work anyway as you likelywont have the wiring setup to open them at the required engine speed. mk2 gt
they open at about 45000rpm and its done by some preassure system i cant remember i would love to put trumpets with a quad throttle body system on the intake side instead of the plenum man that would sound mean! mk2 gt
http://www.technotoytuning.com/misc/New ... anITB4.JPG something like this would be mean with tvis kept on the motor
mikuni
Thats quite high rpm. This has turned into a use tvis vs. don't use tvis thread. You would never use a tvis manifold with carburettors.
mk2 gt
your right it has but i was saying instead of carburettors because you cant use tvis what about quad throttles with trumpets
