cute wee gem
i find it easier in smaller places, you could always jus get some chasis black and paint it on with a paint brush thats an annoying job tho real messy Tried it with metallic though?, Its not neceserally hard, just getting it consistant without runs and trying not to lean on/hit gun or hose on new paint when getting to those, hard-to-reach places
Raizer
Na no pics, were basicly just paddock hacks (lived out the wops with 100+ Ks of forestry tracks to play on) had a LE 1100 matt black and a clubman 1000 on widened 10s. Will see if i can track down a vid of my mates old clubman with a worked 1340 and full race cam
cute wee gem
Awesome, a cousin of mine a had a worked 1350 Mini, it only did about 160k's but it fucking rocketed to about 110 then ran out of steam
Raizer
This 1 would pull 160/170 max, round town it was an absolute mongrol, the cam was WAY to big for the street, but put your foot down and once you hit 3500-4000 it would scare gtx's etc
thminiman
= mine, hit 140 then buttoned off cos no seatbelt + buckie that wasnt bolted in + many other things that meant i shouldnt have even be driving it... CANT WAIT for it to be in thmini, shouldnt be too far off.

Raizer
My mini maxed out at around 150, probly could have got more out of it, but was on loose metal. Escort 170 at 8000rpm with the 4 speed.
dylan
what grit sandpaper do you use first after boggin
cute wee gem
Depends on how many layers of bog are needed, like on a lil dent I'd use 120 grit.. on bits like the back I'll use 40 grit as it will need another layer to finish it off and get it right, then use 120 as its less scratch marks to sand out in the primer later on
cute wee gem
Decided I might spend some money on performance of the little beast.. So what should I stay clear of?, suggestions etc would be great cheers
thminiman
id stay clear of second hand parts to be honest (even tho im using a second hand engine ) it really depends what power you want, the engines are fairly strong from the factory, so by letting it breathe better you can up the power. Exhaust and carbs do wonders to the engines, plus make it sound pretty nice. my extractors cost 180 brand new, coby muff 95 and installation 100 including the materials. can pick up a decent twin carb setup for a 1000cc for 50-100 bucks, being twin 1.25s = to what ive got on my 1275, i will be upgrading mine when i have more money. other wise a good upgrade is to renew all the engine bushes and invest in an extra engine steady, one of the biggest problems in minis is the lost power due to the engine movement. check out these two sellers, they can get you anything you need from england: Auckland guy = guy i got my extractors, diff parts bushes etc from: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Members/Listin ... ber=792792 website: http://www.minibitz.co.nz Wellington guy: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Members/Listin ... ber=118059 he specialises more in internal parts for minis, cams etc. has a lot of experience, races minis etc, Website: Past me a the moment but can find it if need be
cute wee gem
Cheers man, do 1275s bolt straight in, and is it worth buying one? 1098cc atm
thminiman
yea they bolt straight in, depending on what gearchange system you have at the moment. but from what i know of yours, yea it will bolt straight in.
thminiman
if your after an engine (1275) what id do if i was you, is go and talk to the guy at mini cranks, hes in paraparam so its not too far from you, He can do you any engine you want, from standard 1275 to the fastest in the country, i've got his email if you want, and yea ill have a look for the website now. cute wee gem
sweet as, only 4 months or so away from getting a job, so i figuered instead of selling the mini and using my saved money to buy another car, just spend it all on the mini onto the point.. atm I have $2500 I have saved.. what you suggest I do with this? (500 will goto paint), probably get some wheels and flares aswell, so 1200ish to spend on the rest. Also its drums all round, so an upgrade there could probably help?, even if just uprated brake shoes or something to keep to the low budget Suspension upgrades etc? thminiman
it really depends on what you want to work on if you want to work on JUST the engine, then 1200 would probly get you a decent 1275, carbs and exhaust. However, if you wanted to work on all the running gear at once then the probably the best thing to do would be to buy a donor 1275GT, in which comes a 1275 engine, Front Disk Brakes = better than drums, 12" steel wheels and a few other better bits like i think they have a slightly different dash. All the parts from the 1275GT will bolt straight onto yours. ohyea, surprisingly enough, the website for minicranks is: http://www.minicranks.com
cute wee gem
Cheers man, kinda want to do the whole package not just the engine, but I might get the standard engine in and going and see how it handles and brakes then go from there
