Hmm I see. where the brakes anygood? Dont want 5 stud yet. Not putting to much power into this guy and it just means new wheels.

had zeph hubs on corty[for 5 stud]mk3 zeph discs same as mk3 corty ,calipers slighly different[weigh about 5kg each]

Supose now I have this new cort and gonna have a 150hpish 2l in it might look at better brakes. Think ill go with the mk3 discs etc. Or ill do same as escort with austin calipers and 294mm discs :D

Heavy calipers id rather not. Dont wanna break those wheel bearings with heavier discs and calipers. :D

Why take 3mil of overal diameter?

Thats about the same hassle as doing what I am currently doing to the escort.

294mm vented safari disks. Have to make a centre plate adaptor, machine centre out slightly. They are correct offset for escort and the biggest advantage. They are the same width as capri vented which means I just had to buy capri spacers for AP calipers. Easy.

But i was more or less wnating a cheap solve for the cortina

Yeah the volvos spcing between the mounting holes doesn't quite match the holes on the strut does it tho? You have to file them sideways to make them like slots. Ideally I want the same overall volume in the cylinders which the AP calipers are. Larger pistons means more brake fluid required to move them a given distance which means further pedal travel. When they design a brake system, they match the bore diameter of the master cylinder to all 4 wheels cyclinder sizes and make the leverage of the pedal such that the pedal travel is within the legal requirements. The AP calipers will definatly be. The volvo ones might also be im not sure. Thats why in my opinion the AP ones are better.

My disks are slightly bigger again for the escort. The width is the same as capri vented. The pic of the capri disk and bemma disk is good comparison of diameter tho.

i kept them 260 mm, redrilled the holes 45 degrees around the right size and pcd. turnd out the center hold to rite size. ap caliper went straight on with about 10mm ofset spacer. ohh and i spaced the caliper to accept the vented disc. also had to grind a lil bit off the inside of the outside pad so it cleared the step in the disc if that makes sense. discs only cost me $45 each from repco
