TygerTung
I heard that the 1600 was called the 'Kent' If so then why is the 2000 called the 'Pinto'?

Bistro
Yea its been done before, dunno what you nnedto do though? Adapter for the bellhousing, flywheel/clutch combo im not sure on. Kent = 1100-1600 crossflow. pinto = from the ford pinto in the states, 1300-2000.
peteretep
because the 1600 ohv crossflow was designed by a guy called kent and the pinto ohc, being a different engine is named after the ford usa car that first used the engine and was called a pinto
Leebo3
because the 1600 ohv crossflow was designed by a guy called kent and the pinto ohc, being a different engine is named after the ford usa car that first used the engine and was called a pinto i thought it was because it was made or desined in Kent? Jonny
theres the pre X-Flows, what are they called?
atropine
thought pre-xflow were kents also.. could be wrong mk3- escorts and others had CVH engines i believe theres the cosworths.. the YB's, the BDA's blah blah blah umm.. lotus twin cam? but yeah.. escort OHV's (1100,1300,1600) are called kents, the OHC, 1300,1600,2000is the pinto. for reasons above. all the OHV is often called the xflow, the OHC is also a xflow. just around the other way.. aka intake on the drivers side, exhaust on the passengers side on the kent, other way round on the pinto. RT
yep there are nicknamed a kent engine as they were designed in Kent in England. And the 2L OHC was designed in England but originally destined for the US market for a car they called the Ford Pinto. Which was a pretty nasty peice of shit btw. But the poms kept the name and used it for their universal engine base.
