afew tips. type 9 boxs bolt straight up to zetec, even my mondeo clutch had the same spline as the type 9 input shaft. just need to put a spigot bearing in the end of the crank. Be sure to get a manual engine not a auto then convert! other wise the crank angle senser doesent line up with the teath on the flywheel. Put a 1600 zetec water pump on it off a escort, it spins clock wise. this way you can ditch the power steer tnd ac pumps but still use the factory tensioner and use the factory alt bracket. cut the top off the alt bracket where the old fwd engine mount was. Run a bit of stainless pipe from the thermostat at the back of the engine up to the radiator. make up some headers and a new inlet manifold to accept 4age quad throttle boddies, run a link computer and you have a reliable 170hp. any questions or want zetec work done email me leadedeke@hotmail.com

Best 4cyc ford engine to go for would be the cosworth.. but you will be spending large for one of those.

Or a Duratec engine from a Mondeo quite a bit more expensive than the Zetec but 220hp.

FYI:

2L Zetec is the best deal though eh. Bang for ya buck etc.

(you can get 170hp from your 1600 sport engine though without turboing it btw)

nah v6s suck :P

2l zetec is 135hp standard i believe.. but very easy to get it to the 170-180 mark without touching the internals.. sidedraught carbs or throttle bodies are a huge boost, and general things like headers/extractors are obvious things to do...

not exactly cheap.. but probaly cheaper than making a raceprep worked 1600 for the same power... more drivibility also..

ummm $500-1000 depending on cond? wouldnt wanna go much more than that...

on my original quote for the sport the builder had put a grand allowance for the block.. not sure what he paid for it... is a '00 2L block with low milage and mint internals though..

was a '00 2L on trademe not long ago.. all loom and computer etc.. was like $700 start or reserve i think

LOL

should of been done a good 7-8months ago..

friday was our latest deadline, at which my dad is planning on getting a trailer and telling his mate of 25years to go fuck himself.

then its off somewhere else to get finished.. will probaly only take a week or 2 :P

ideas are playhard racing, jasco automotive (my cousin works there i believe.. if not somewhere else in auckland that he works at) or somewhere local like baz's body shop.. if barry is up to it :P
