atropine
yeah should be damn awesome.. kinda makes me want an rs2000 dash... ever considered getting the firewall recessed to help with room? kinda a big step i guess

Guest madrx4
i like da hotwires but thats just me if only my escort i had wasn't stolen
Guest kris
Yeah, I like the hoties - I think they'll stay. I guess I am a classic guy at heart. They're kinda like blue stratos - Oh god, I hope that's not gay The photos are a bit deceptive, there is actually heaps of room (> 1") at the back - so moving the firewall back isn't needed. The real problem with space is width at the front, I could cut big holes out of the inner wings, but I'll just try harder to fit it all in. I think I've worked it out now anyway - the subaru vertical throttlebody helped. I have both a Supra box and an MT75. I think I will use the Supra box, as I liked it when I used to have it in an earlier MK2.

Leebo3
also, have you painted your steering wheel orange or was it like that?

Guest kris
also, have you painted your steering wheel orange or was it like that? I painted it - it breaks up all the black inside while driving. Not sure if I'll keep it (edit: the colour orange) tho - opinions? The center cap is original.

Guest kris
yup ive seen an orange 1600sport a few times around the cuba/manners area,, also saw a mint rs2000 on cuba when i was moving.. There were a couple of RS2000 minters at the Wellington British car day this year - a white Aussie RS2000 and a Yellow German one. There was also a nice red sport that I see around occasionally. Worth going to see the Escorts and Capris... I will put the 1600 Sport decals back on when it's all finished.
atropine
good-o.. if you see a red mk2 panelvan around its probaly me.. 99% original, few patches of primer
Guest kris
So it's just Wellington now, not Hastings? I'll keep an eye out for the van. P.S. I meant keep the colour - I am keeping the steering wheel.
atropine
ah ok lol.. good idea.. get the dash off trademe? i live in hastings (well havelock..) but am at vic uni so im in wellington for most of the next 5 1/2 years....
Guest kris
get the dash off trademe? No, from Aus. It wasn't cheap I got it off a guy who was advertising on Bud's forum. I got the Escort pinto sump and mounts the same way, cos I don't think cutting and shutting a steel sump is a great idea, a bad weld = no oil = stuffed engine. If it was fully sand blasted, bolted to a block, tig'd and then tested, then it might be ok. Besides, I want to be able to tell the compliance man that the mounts and sump etc are all factory
Bistro
Ahhh, I see you bought this. I went and looked at it a year ago or something and ended up deciding against it ... *looks at rust work done* phewww lol! Top job. Good to see something a bit diff in NZ scence instead of the usual plain pinto or going for a diff engine, 4age etc. Theres also a pic of you and your one of your other escorts up at uni, noticed it matched off your site Just wondering where didyou get your EDIS setup from? Cheers.
Guest kris
Ahhh, I see you bought this. I went and looked at it a year ago or something and ended up deciding against it ... *looks at rust work done* phewww lol! Yeah, more rust than I expected. I was so desperate for another Sport, it messed with my judgement. It's all good now, only a little bit of rust left now in the front of the wings. I will put a set of new wings on the car sometime, but I want to drive it around for a while first. Anyone who wants to go look at rust can look here: http://www.mcs.vuw.ac.nz/~kris/escort/r1.shtml Top job. Big job tho. So, I guess you are here at vic as well... That Sport died years ago - now that was the rustiest car ever - it had no boot floor. Just wondering where didyou get your EDIS setup from? A place in the states called "boost engineering". Used parts, but should be good.
