oldschoolGTO
hey, does anyone here know where I can get hold of or get manufactured a sidedraft manifold that fits 40mm solex sidedrafts (off an 18rg) to my 4g52 in the gto? I am told that a manifold that fits solex sidedrafts will also fit dellorto and Webber sidies as well. on another note with my twin carbs already on the GTO they are leaking petrol out of the main jet in one of the carbs when the fuel pump (ignition) is on but the engine isn't running. when this happens I notice that the float level is v.high on both carbs but when the engine is running the fuel level in the float chamber goes back to the correct level. Does anyone have any Ideas on why this happens? Is it the float needles are worn or for some reason is the pump supplying too much pressure because the engine isn't using any fuel and forcing fuel into the chamber? any help is appreciated
zep
This could possibley be what you are looking for: http://www.tweakit.net/shop/product_inf ... cts_id=
coltspeed
that's exactly what he is looking for! As for your other problem...i had the same thing happen and fixed it by taking the top off the offending carb and making sure the jet is securely in place cause they tend to get a bit loose if not seated properly. coltspeed
oh and by the way the reason fuel starts leaking when the ignition is on but the car isn't running is cause you have an electric fuel pump that will keep delivering fuel until the float tells tells it not to, and if the float level is set to high then the pressure build up will find the weakest link...so when you take the top of the carb off bend the float back a bit(not too much, trial and error really) and make sure your jet isn't loose. coltspeed
hell thats not quite right. the floats doesn't tell the fuel when to stop but doesn't allow any more fuel into the chamber. I hate explaining on this contraption... Give me a call 02742750132 cheers Shirwan.

oldschoolGTO
I had the exact same problem on my 4G32So I threw it in the river funny that you say that i also had that problem with the Celeste I had (4g32 also and my dad now owns) so I changed the carb to one off an EX lancer and it ran great after that. I have a 78 lancer now as my back up car to the GTO and it has the same carb but doesn't have any probs. Anyway cheers for the help I'll just have to save some $$ and get the sidies on
S-8Y
You still looking for some 40mm solex mikuni sidedrafts?
phtmbl
i have a gto as well the reason it does it is prob because you have a bit of dirt stopping the needle from seating properly if your still running them just pull them doen and clean them and replace your fuel filters if you running orig pump there is a filter behind the pump cover in the boot
