RT
The earlier model 2wd Hilux up to 1975 is the same width as an Escort. The later would appear to be about 20 - 25mm wider.. have a read of this: http://www.classicford.mine.nu/forum/ Classic Ford Tech Section - Hilux Diffs All Forums General Forum Technical Information Toyota Hilux/Hiace Diff Conversion Capri diffs are another option.. my mate runs a MK1 1600GT diff in his but it's flared out so he can fit decent rubber in.. if you have no flares then it will need shortening. Leebo3
I am currently running (yes my escort is now going) a 3.54 but used to have a 4.12. Both seem the same to use for me.

two_days_late
hey methodz have you got any info of the process of using a newer hilux diff? was it very hard to do, did you have to get it shortened? cheers
Bistro
imo the new hilux diffs are the way to go. a solid lsd and something around the price range of $1400 shortened and purchased?? it will need to be shortened, and you can have the track a little smaller if you have larger width wheels at the back, as long as it doesnt hit the tub or the leafs. which is mad score. Guest Eddie W
Well the works Eskys used to put up to 280 hp through an Atlas but they did have fully floating hubs and beefier halfshafts. I would have thought that the LSD might be hard to come by. Eddie
