Jerm
Small prob with the eskie i think its the alternator... Battery keeps going dead.. at first i thought it was just my battery dieing... cos i charged it and it still seemed weak... and the battery charge light on the dash started to flicker as i was driving.. but i have just changed the battery to another charged one... havn't driven it but i started it and it seemed good but the charge light is still flickering.. this mean the bat is not gettign charge right? which would mean my alternator needs replacing? which sucks cos i won't haev time to do it till the weekend and i ned to get to work! gonnahvae to park on alot of hills. One questioni had was even if my bat is dead and my alternator is fucked how doe sthe car still run if you push start it? where does it get power for the spark? Eskie alternators are gay to get off.. that dumb bracket with bolts that are to long... the nuts and bolts hit each other!
kyteler
Yes, it will be your alternator. Escort alternators are a piece of piss to get on and off, stop your whining In regards to your other query, the battery will still have enough charge to maintain a spark for a while, but not necesarily enough to engage the starter motor, hence push starts working, also, depending how fucked your alternator is, it might have enough go to keep the battery constant but not to charge it. Don't worry, they can be both fucked enough to not let you push start, you know you're in trouble when you turn the lights on, or the indicators and the car dies
RT
Get your alternator recond. or get a beefer one and mod it to fit. I don't know whats available for the scort but for the pinto there's 3 different grades. black red and blue rated in that order for grunt. I used to have problems cos of my grunty stereo keept flattening my battrey. I found this massive alternator my 70yr old neighbour said was off a sierra. Well, I don't know what sort of sierra he was referring too cos I've never seen one like it. But it's German made and I got it tested and it's super grunty! fitted straight on too. ...sorry i bet none of that helped
kyteler
Yeah, if you're running lots of auxillary units, Stereo, subs, speakers.. you'll want something with at least 50A

mkcortina
Eskie alternators are gay to get off.. that dumb bracket with bolts that are to long... the nuts and bolts hit each other! Do you mean the bolts that bolt the bracket to the block or the bolts from the altermator to the bracket? This is what i have done i replaced the 2 bolts from the alternator to the bracket with 1 long bolt this makes it easier to remove the alternator and i leave the bracket connected to the block.
