big tymer
with the lack of power from a escort wouldnt you want a high diff like you got so you can have some pick up???? altho i guess you dont wanna rev your engine to high for to long cant be to good for a piston engine i have a 4.3 at the mo but im looking for a 4.
Guest freedz
My mk1s got one out of a mk2 1600sport think its 3:54 and its good off the mark and cruses well. Dont make noise till you get to 140-150ish and even then its not bad. Lucky i didnt listen to this guy who told me to put one out of a escort van wich is a 4:?? it would scream out especially with the 2liter. I had a 3:77 in it but it was too noisy just doing 100 and im guessing that if i went into the 4's i'd most likely blow it.
trunk-rattlin
whats the tallest diff you can bolt up to a mk2 escort? i want a 3.54 or less
Toucan
I like the 3.89:1 thats in my escort. With the old 1300 it wasnt enough power to get any good accelleration out of it but now that Ive got the 1600, I can take off real quick and cruising at 100kms well... you get used to it. Pushrod
Yea I had the same prob Im my old 1600 sport with the whine from the diff and gearbox and constant drone from the exhaust I would have it ringing in my ears for days after long trips
trunk-rattlin
do all 1600 escorts have a 3.54? and whats the tallest diff that will bolt up to original 1300 parts!?
