Yeah, a couple of my favourite things were Kevlar-lined rear quarters for snow rallies so they could smash through snow drifts without damage, 10:1 compression HKS built 4G63s, and all the parts of the body acid dipped to within an inch of their lives to reduce weight.
There was also a good yarn about them leaving an evo three in Kenya (they must have sold it) and everything that went into the country had to come out (legally, including used tyres etc.) so they took a local fwd lancer the same shape back with them which was eventually built into a 4wd turbo reccy car using spares from around the workshop.
Also, tales of being caught by the cops at Rally of NZ in a speeding convoy of Canters loaded up and heading to the next service stage. He had a Kiwi, Aussie and UK driver's license and the cop told him he was taking his license off him. Cop didn't know how many he had, so he handed over the Australian one, they swapped drivers and continued on their way.

My old pre-trade automotive tutor worked at Ralliart in the Tommi days. He has the best yarns and some pretty epic tech drawings.

Another option is picking a caliper that lets you water jet cut a pad down from another common pad size, this is what I did with my rear AE86 disk setup, I just had wilwood polymatrix pads cut down to suit, $25 to cut down per pad, and once they have template it's easy as.
If your looking for long lasting brakes, bigger and thicker pads are what you want to go for, it helps them last a lot longer from the heat and just helps all the components around them.
A friend of mine who is a BMW barry (fitting coz his surname is Barrie) used to work on the Super Tourers when they were still a thing. He'd get the used pads off them and laser jet them down to use on a bunch of different cars coz even used they had more than enough material on them still.
The F-series in my Corolla came out of a crown from @sheepers and has the Altezza LSD in it. I've got s14 4 stud discs and ae92 fxgt calipers on mine. If I were to do it again I'd do an Estima diff, get it shortened and use Weir Performance axles http://www.weirperformance.com/axlekitscompleterear.html coz my axles are redrilled from 5x114 to 4x114 and I'd like the bigger bearings.
The Daddy Motorworks (GR Yaris powered) ae86 uses a Carina/Corona housing with Altezza LSD, the Estima disc/drum brakes and Endless handbrake shoes.- 1

If the pin is covered you might be able to put a countersunk capscrew in there with a nut?

The rest has to do with the engine's character. "It's a big-bore, big-stroke engine, and it doesn't sound puny like some three-cylinders do," Koenigsegg says. "Imagine a Harley with one more cylinder. That kind of sensation." Despite the 95mm bore and 93.5mm stroke dimensions, the TFG is quite high-revving. Peak power comes at 7500 rpm and redline is set at 8500. "We have a tendency to engineer these rotating parts lighter than anyone else," Koenigsegg explains, "but really focusing on strength at the same time. And if you do that, you can rev higher." The tiny engine also delivers big torque—443 lb-ft from just below 3000 rpm all the way to 7000.
That's long stroke and turbo though

I think moving to a diesel where no throttles are necessary would solve the issue.
I was trying to talk him into Freevalve earlier, then he can do away with cams and throttles

Would slide throttles be a better DIY build?

Yes there are some factory manual Mark X / IS250, and they use the hilux gearbox/dual mass / etc.
Don't they use that fancy later model 6 speed??

Dearest Davide,
I know your reasoning for using the J160, but am I correct in saying that the 4GR shares its bell housing pattern with the 1GR and as such would allow the use of a V6 Hilux bell housing and box in a MarkX??

Jesse
