  1. I'd be very careful if looking at that Carina, someone that openly talks about doing plates and tags on a car on TradeMe might not be the best person to deal with and as @Dudley pointed out there was a stolen warning on it
  2. @KKtrips and or @cletus Just read Chris' comments in the dodgy cert advice Facebook group around the bump steer swing test. On a ke70/ae86 with Techno Toy Tuning roll center adjusters between the strut and steering knuckle is a swing test required for Cert if the car doesn't have adjustable height tie-rod ends? I know @advokit had trouble getting a cert because he had bump steer adjustable tie-rod ends and ended up reverting to factory as he couldn't get his bump steer within spec. Will I need a swing test with just the RCAs? From my understanding the factory bump steer in a corolla is pretty bad to begin with?
  3. Did it come with AEM stickers?

  5. Crazy idea here.... Run what you have, and see what happens. Don't waste energy theorising on what might happen, and over-complicating things. This was the Echo's charm, cheap, cheerful and iterative. I also know that your name is David and you're incapable of not over-thinking the whole process
  6. There's a guy in Aussie that sells Recaro fabric and refurbed seats if you can't find the fabric closer to home Edit: @Snoozin and @xsspeed beat me to it
  7. Whaaaaat? They set the sensors up so they won't make it to full droop??
  8. So basically what you're saying is that he needs some sort of air pump, potentially a turbine running on the wasted exhaust gases to hold the tops on the pistons?
  9. Get @Roman to Arduino you up a controller and run it with actuators and a china touch screen
  10. Bahaha, Mum and Dad have a 100 series hiace camper, and it's got a collection of driftwood and rocks and shells sitting on the passenger side of the dash in that hollow they all have. Mum jokingly calls it her beach
  11. Would there be an option where I only have to pay for one? Another supplier maybe?
  12. Just pulled this little sweatheart out of dads inverter in his camper. I assume it’s a CBB21 475K400V Can someone please spoon feed me a link for a source of one that I don’t have to wait until the end of Jan to receive
  13. To be honest, when you start spending money on things like pistons and rods it takes away the charm of the 1NZ being a cheap cheerful motor built with ridiculously high compression (for an OEM) wrecker pistons and probably isn't always going to be the best option. I think your motor hit the sweet spot really. Other than if you had a bunch of motors and were able to put the parts that are most similar in weight together, you end up altering the smiles per dollar ratio too much and there are probably better solutions to be piling money into. (mostly thinking about the hillclimb car here)
  14. Yeah, my last car was certed about 6 months before the camber restrictions came in and had about 4-5 degrees in the back and about 3-4 in the front. Was certed by Neil Fraser and we did roll center and bump steer correction. It drove well enough for a low car with a terrible scrub radius and wide wheels. This will be much more subtle
  15. This feels like a dumb question and I'm almost embarrassed to ask. If a car is certified it has to be within a certain camber range. If I'm just on lowering springs and the camber is achieved through factory adjustment can I run say 3-4 degrees camber for a WOF? Is there anything in the VIRM about alignment?
  16. People keep asking me what my corolla is going to be like with the "big heavy v8" up front. I have to keep explaining that it's actually lighter than the diesel it came with
  17. Surely there is room for my scope creep
  18. Can you use 12v from the hybrid battery to start it?
  19. gummon, @Dudley doesn't deserve that level of quality
  20. Yeah, a couple of my favourite things were Kevlar-lined rear quarters for snow rallies so they could smash through snow drifts without damage, 10:1 compression HKS built 4G63s, and all the parts of the body acid dipped to within an inch of their lives to reduce weight. There was also a good yarn about them leaving an evo three in Kenya (they must have sold it) and everything that went into the country had to come out (legally, including used tyres etc.) so they took a local fwd lancer the same shape back with them which was eventually built into a 4wd turbo reccy car using spares from around the workshop. Also, tales of being caught by the cops at Rally of NZ in a speeding convoy of Canters loaded up and heading to the next service stage. He had a Kiwi, Aussie and UK driver's license and the cop told him he was taking his license off him. Cop didn't know how many he had, so he handed over the Australian one, they swapped drivers and continued on their way.
  21. My old pre-trade automotive tutor worked at Ralliart in the Tommi days. He has the best yarns and some pretty epic tech drawings.
