Well this is coming along slowly. Pictureless update by the way. I thought I had sorted some storage and work area for this, but now its fallen through so will just have to settle for my car port thing at at home instead. Been buying bits and pieces ready for it. Got new pads and shoes for brakes, got new headlight bulbs, getting some brand new rear shocks for $60, new badges. I also have found another set of wheels so I will get one set widened and the other stay original. Found some extra hub caps too so I am happy. Have found a guy in Oamaru with a good bonnet and doors that are rust free. I just got to sell the Suzuki to get them up here before he scraps them. Will be aiming to have it driveable and running by end of summer or earlier. Just need a new radiator and make sure shocks etc are all good and get brakes sorted with new lines. I have intentions to have it at the next nats, but I won't be holding my breath.

Well, I am selling my Suzuki vitara and some of the money from that will be going into this. Basically I am taking this over as my daily / off roader Plan is, new discs, pads, rekitted calipers, new clutch and brake master cylinders, new cam belt, WP, tensioner. Take the head off and inspect damage. I believe a valve may be bent. Also obviously replace head gasket and all the other gaskets seals above. Sort out the bit of surface rust. Replace diff and gearbox oil seals and then it should be all go. May need to cert the race seats as they have custom mounts to the floor. Mind you they are way way stringer than before so not really a problem. Rear brake wise I will get the drums checked and the cylinders rekitted as well. Will post up progress when things start to happen.

I gonna say, just for the love all all things good, don't do a 1UZ conversion, please. I am sick to death of seeing that number and digit round everywhere. Still I know why you would do it, and if you do, make sure you supercharge that shit. Brings so much more life to these engines

Sounds like a good idea, too bad i can't find any listings for hoses for the Fuego turbo anywhere, 2 litre sure, but not the turbo. Just so typically french.

sweet as. yea the fuel hose is a bit more in silicone, but isn't too bad. I know people who can get my rubber fuel hose cheaper. Will see if the dealer can source a full hose kit, I doubt it and if they can it will be mega dollars I am sure, but will be good to know all the same.

well if I was to get silicone I would be getting the black silicone ones, I hate all blue bits and stuff through the engine bay. Yeah the main problem is the engine, but all the hoses etc are getting tired and perished and keep failing etc. Rather replace them all now than have something bad go wrong like a fuel leak, causing a fire etc. So it will all be done at once.

ok, so I have been having a few issues. I am waiting for Simon to help me test it but it looks like the cylinder liner seals have broken on the trip down to FAMP. so it keeps using lots of water and I can't have the oil breather connected up otherwise it fills up with mayo shit. So basically its been parked up for the last couple of weeks now. Also I have had numerous problems with coolant and radiator hoses giving problems. So they all need replacing along with fuel lines, all heater hoses, radiator hoses, vacuum and boost hoses, oil hoses etc. I have a question though, should I try and replace whatever hoses I can with silicone ones? get proper radiator hoses but get the rest in silicone? Found a good cheap company to deal with for silicone hose out of the UK autosiliconehoses.com I have heard a mix bag of feed back on silicone so wondering if anybody on here as experience with it. ok, so I removed the ball bearing and spring from my boost tap thingy and hey presto, reliable boost now. Running about 11-13psi now, so up on the factory 9. Pulls quite a bit harder now. Happy as. can still safely go to 15 so might do that this month. Might try to get to a winter dragwars event this month, just for shits and giggles.

hell I will make the effort to turn up to this this time too.

I like the blue so one day I will get the engine bay finished in that blue. Will do an area at a time till its done I guess over a few weekends. Also re did the in take side and added a scoop from under the car to help feed cold air to the filter. Next will be to wrap the exhaust and or get a turbo beanie to cut down on the heat in the engine bay. To re do the filter I hacked up the intake from our wrecked 19. Cant really see it in this pic, but the sill I repainted black along with the tow bar at the back too. Bumpers are next

hell yea, Fuego is now all road legal. Engine bay is a bit crap looking now as I went to a stricter WoF place so i decided to get rid of the surface rust on the strut towers. so is now in blue zinc. on te plus side I have found the colour I will paint it. Pics later on
