  7. like the last guy said, is there no way you can treat or seal the pine to protect it like a varnish or kiln dried h3 with a stan over like they do for decks or somthing? i don't use wood for much usually it metal so its a bit over my head lol.
  8. i done this on my wagon a few weeks ago had to change to negitive earth and from 6volt to 12volt it was real easy most modern alternators have voltage regulators built into them the lucas one is easy as it fits fords they come in escorts etc hardest part is making it so it mounts up so the belt lines up and you able to tighten the belt. once you got that remove your voltage regulator and hook the wires up to bypass it then there is the 2 wires to your gen you just need to find the which wire is which and hook to the right pins from the generator and test it to make sure its working it would be best to check with your local sparky what wire is what as alot of cars are different but thats all i had to do to mine.
  9. i seen your truck the other day driving into town didn't realize it was the same one till i looked on here and saw you were in blenheim lol it looks huge will it fit through tunnels in kaikora? could you not put the plywood pannels up and then the pine over top i know this will add extra weight and more time but that way you can still have the look??

  18. yeah it does real good skids but im on my last diff and axles they are way to weak
  19. trying not to ask a dumb question here but are you sure the battery isn't flat as it dosn't take alot of power for dash lights to go takes a bit more for it to wind over?
  20. yeah the guy I brought it off got it from some guy up north and said it had 69 on the doors so he sanded them and primered made a mess of that too
  21. hey can anyone help with ideas for a engine mount i need one like a S1 rx7 12a the shop says to use a cortina mount but there twice as thick i need it to be thin so it dosn't hold my engine high also does anyone know if a liteace van diff will work in the ke30 ive seen the axles are jsut bout the same as a hilux one and there already 4 stud
  22. car specs: 1979 ke30 toyota corolla engine 4age 16 valve blue top gearbox T50 diff std (soon to change) lowered (but not enough anymore) 13x7 superlites bucket seat plans for the car: lower it again pull engine and box out and repaint engine bay and engine and box tidy the inside of the car paint the outside a new color
  23. ok this is a project of mine ive had it for a while now so i'll start at the beginning and bring everyone up to date TALK HERE this is when i first picked up the car not going turned out the hose clamps on the fuel line was lose and wasn't getting any fuel pressure it already had a 4 age conversion done and certed but was very rough with the engine on a huge angle which made the drive shaft on a Z sort of shape made it vibrate real bad found that there was a heap of vacuum hoses that had been pulled out so the map senser wasn't hooked up and the tivis so first goal was to get it running better put new spark plugs leads dizzy cap etc hooked up vacuum hoses now it would idle and was driveable still needed more work checked timeing and it was way out and i couldn't get it to adjust in thought it was a tooth out so tryed moving that all it did was make it WAY advanced or WAY retarded went to a mates place he had a engine looked at his dizzy and noticed the cap clips were a fraction different so stole that and put it in and swaped all my bits on to it that brought the timing into were the marks were and made it run like a dream so ive since been told that there are 3 different dizzys for the 16 valve blue tops next was time for a wof and reg took it down for a check the guy didn't like the way it was lowered with cuz springs with only 2 coils in the front and reset springs with lowering block holding it hard on the bump stops in the back and according to the cert plat the ride height matched but he wouldn't give me a wof till i lifted it a bit so out came the lowering blocks in the back well i hunted for some new springs for the front i found some std ke30 front springs but for some reason there a different diameter and the top and bottom of the shocks plus the shocker have been shortened so went to a car wreckers with one of my struts he had a huge bin of springs from unknown cars found a pair of king springs that were bang on for size and put them in made the car way to high in the front so they came back out and with a little cut cut shhhhhh lol they were brought back down to a suitable hight and were well and truly captive as the shocks were short as back for the recheck he was real happy with it so it was all legal YAY next i found that the engine was on cortina engine mounts that was holding the engine real high had a mate that had a S1 12a mount in his shed that was the right thinkness so used that and made a dummy one out of a bolt and wood for the other side to see if it would fix my engine hight and angle issue and what do ya know it did the car is starting to get real good but every time i fix somthing it seems somthing else goes wrong the exhaust had been made for the engine on the angle now that it was down the exhaust bent up and went "rattle rattle rattle" on the floor with a quick chop and weld that was solved and a trip to repco turned out that S1 Rx7 mounts don't exsist anymorre if anyone can help me with a idea to fix this PM me next on the shopping list was a set of mags found these through a mate 13x7 superlites they look mint as you can see the height the wof guy made me put it at is bout 50mm higher then cert plate says so im looking at changeing this soon
