  1. The 2 door kp starlet rear window latch may do the trick?
  2. ^^ this? Or how about a dodgy timing light?? I was chatting to someone the other day who set the timing on his evo with a shithouse timing light, ended up with a glowing exhaust manifold and missing about 40KW. Also mechanical or electrical fuel pump??
  3. Pretty sure the sound it makes wouldn't put you off either. yeah i have seen the speedflow fittings with a roll-pin or ball arrangement to make them swivel etc.. But sadly I have not splashed out on any flash fittings on the car..
  4. So, i got the water pipe braised up, a big thanks to Mike-E, (I hope your boss didn't get too wound up) a bit of pissing around to get the thing back on the car with the exhaust manifold in place, taking off one of the engine to gearbox braces made life it a bit easier.. Crack... no crack.. bit of paint to keep the rusty-rust away. Plus some proof that the car actually left the garage, I took it for a quick blast up the road and it didn't fall to pieces so that was a bonus.. need to get motivated an start hacking up the rear guards so the shorter rear springs can go back in, although a bit worried about making the paint catch fire.
  5. Can't wait for more info on the epic wheel combo that has been hinted at.
  6. Yep that's what i was thinking of.. It must be a bloody fiddly gasket for the blacktop manifold
  7. is there enough room between each ot the t/b's when they are mated up to the head? 1g's are reasonably short for a 6 cylinder. I guess a front facing plenum could be an option if it was just a matter of getting it operational. what's that early 80's injected toyota motor that came out in the celicas with the shiny intake pipes that run up to a top mounted manifold. Adapting 2 sets of that shiz to fit to the 1g could well be an option. As for the TPS just use any old one that can put out the 0-5v reading hell you could even mount it to the throttle pedal if you wanted to.. If you end up going for an older laptop tunable link i can probably dig up a tune from my 1g which would get it running.
  8. eh? not following you. silver top = afm, blacktop = map Seems unlikely that this guy would want to run an AFM anyway as it would totally negate the cool factor of the ITB's.
  9. ^^ That would be brilliant thanks. What/where is "the fort" you speak of? It looks like it will be some time around/after the 16th-17, as i am shifting house and need to keep the starlet mobile. Cheers Matt
  10. Hi, I'm after someone equipped with a gas plant that can braze up a minor crack i have in a heater pipe for my 1GGTE. It'll probably take all of about 10 minutes to fix. No major rush (it'll be at least a week away), i'll remove it and clean it all up etc. Drop me a pm if you 'd like to exchange services for beers or $ etc.. Cheers Matt
  11. ^^interesting, i run my link map+rpm. it seems to do ok, although i have myself a large plenum to plug it in to.
  12. he speaks the truth, much gas-axe action to try and get my hilux diff apart. price wise i didn't think the bearings were too costly maybe 110 for the pair from partsmaster.
  13. ^^ yip injectors into the head, my 1g is running an old link plus with no TPS and it seems to go ok. The ITB's could lead to a bit of fiddle factor getting a good vacuum source for a map sensor? should sound pretty sweet if you can make it all come together.. Just had a thought, are you going to run the TVIS plate?
  14. well the car left the garage today for the first time in 3 years, I have fitted and a spare metro carb up my new needle/spring i had ordered from the UK a while back, even with new gas it still needs a heap of choke to run nicely, I'm thinking I need to have a look at the jet sizes. (or wire the choke open all the time) A bit of luck and it'll drive itself on to the trailer when it's shifting time. I'd love to get the gearbox rebuilt after driving a fresh one a while ago, man it was nice. I might have to find somewhere to show it a bit of love when i pull the motor out to put in my proper 296 Kent cam.
  15. been a while... finally got the turbo fitted back up and gave it a quick run with the compressor wheel held in place to prime it up and all seems well, i think the timing might be out but other than that the motor doesn't seem too bad, no mega leaks, excessive noise and no major smoke. I was going to take it for a decent run but i think i'll leave it to i shift, (the car is now full of garage junk) A couple of pics because you can't have an update without them.. The engine bay is finally looking reasonably finished
  16. Cheers.. I have got this sorted thanks to Callum / Club-k. I should be wrecking my guards on either Thursday or Friday..
  17. So I'm looking for a sharp price/decent job to get my rear guards rolled before a track day this weekend anyone know of a good place to get this done. Or does someone have a roller they would like to lend me in exchange for a box of beers etc.. Cheers Matt
  18. I had this done on my accord a few years back due to a WOF failure, it was around 300 to repair from memory..
  19. I'm on the lookout fopr a set of 4x4 rims at around 15x9 in a -20 or -30 so i can ditch the 6 stud to 4 stud adaptors. so if anyone ends up with some odd 6 stud centres they don't want lep me know.
  20. I have also disposed of a running 850 motor and box in a skip bin oh well you can't keep everything
  21. odd it looks to have a late model diff (with cv cups) but has the rear breather and access to cam followers like an old 850. It'll be interesting to see what head it has and what capacity it is.
  22. Is the plan for food or just a couple of beers etc?
  23. Try goerge stocks for the springs. http://www.georgestock.co.nz/GS_CataloguesIndex.asp i think i paid about 450 for the springs, threaded tube and nuts etc.. it was a few years ago though
  24. Still waiting for turbo bits, in other news I eyed up a set of evo 1-3 rear coil-overs, it looks like they could be made to fit without major dramas.. i'd have to beef up the diff mounting and find a bit of 5'' tube to weld in to attach to the top of the suspension.
