  1. I cut the rear triangle off the morrison today. It left huge big holes which I didn't expect so I pinched some roll cage offcuts and reinforced it. managed a couple of real nice welds and a couple of not nice ones Did a little jig. Man its hard to get it squared up on such a shithouse jig haha
  2. Nay, tis only a measly meter
  3. Stripped down the donor bikes last night Girl bike gives it to boy bike, wonder what will be born? Also went to go and pick up steel and found that my corolla has a flat battery So had to do this: I now see the use for loooooongbike! (aside from just being badass)
  4. How do you go about getting bodies/shovel/lime in the boot of the fastback?
  5. haha I wondered if that was what you meant but had seen "moustache bars" for sale on the internet earlier. 100 speed would be awesome but sadly in this case 2 x 10speeds = 5 speed
  6. I like how you have attached the handlebars
  7. zetec conversion is pretty involved. If you go efi you need a computer + throttle bodies + custom manifold + high pressure fuel system etc etc If you go carbs you need a megajolt computer + carb + custom manifold etc You need to make a water rail as one of the water outlets is on the back of the head so you need to make a thermostat housing and tube to bring it to the front You need to make your own exhaust manifold + engine mounts etc Also need to modify the sump (some claim it can't be welded) or find a 1.8cvh sierra sump to modify I'm still not entirely sure what flywheel clutch combo is easiest to come by in nz for this either. The one thing that is easy is that a 5spd sierra box bolts straight up OR you can get on http://www.retro-ford.co.uk/shop/catalog and buy everything you need for the conversion but its $$ If you wanted to stay ford in a ford the best way to go is a Duratec engine but again its seriously involved and $$ as you also need a custom bellhousing I'm doing a zetec in my anglia but haven't got very far with it yet
  8. Yeah I like the bottom one better too, flatmate was trying to talk me into just welding the headtube of the rear bike onto the seat tube of the front bike but i reckon it would just make it way way way way tooo short for the rear bike. Lou is short but not that short haha. I've got a shitty little gasless mig here that I had planned to use for it, its not great but i can get a decent looking weld out of it. Also from time to time there is a guy here with a tig set welding my flatmates race car, so if I time it right...
  9. Stop using autocad. Edit: sorry that was unduly harsh, it is just that a little part of me dies when I see autocad in use... Whats wrong with autocad??? I could have used solidworks and done a full solid model of the whole thing but I only wanted to know what lengths of steel needed to be added I really wanna ride this thing to a party after I've built it and then offer a chick a ride home
  10. jeez mate you have waaayyy too much time on your hands and you sure do know how to prep a car! Great stuff!
  11. Design thoughts? The green sections are what I will need to add to the frame
  12. Yeah I was pretty daunted when I started doing the repairs on mine. Used to stare at it for hours and take countless measurements before diving in and cutting things up. Now I just formulate a quick plan and rip into it. If I stuff something up, its only steel, just cut it out again and have another go. There are a few of my earlier patches that I will probably do again to get it to a standard that I'm happy with. Would like to be able to take it to a show and put mirrors underneath
  13. woah! lot of work to go there. If you look at my thread you can see how I went about fixing the grille and the rear bumper chassis rail.
  14. ^ That. Only time you would possibly notice that would be on a track comparing lap times to 100th's, and you would only be doing that if the rest of the car was up to the challenge. Still, all these things add up so even though you won't 'notice' any difference if you do enough of these small things that you won't notice it will eventually make a small difference.
  15. Those lights came up awesome! Good to know!
  16. Oh rust repairs - can't wait to get back into chasing holes around my abox!
  17. agreed, satin black ftw. spray cans from supercheap, wait for a warm day and take your time, will look sweet for <$30
  18. crash and bend bonnet? In all seriousness - those flares + wheels = win Also needs 4agze @ 9000rpm+
  19. haha yeah most people watch him do it for the first time and when he pulls it out of the bath are like "get fucked!" haha looks like a magic trick
