  1. Cheers for the offer bout I've already got a small turbo lying around that I may chuck on in the future. Picked the beast up last night and got it home this morn. If the sun decides to come out i'll try get some decent pics. Planning on repainting the bumpers, bonnet and roof as the red is very faded however may even get around to chucking a few coats on the whole car of the original red. Will probably get round to giving it a thorough service within the next week and replace the plugs, leads and dizzy components as well, also the cam cover gasket as it looks to be leaking oil badly. As my birthdays coming up in a few weeks im gonna treat my self and get some steels widened for this hopefully some 14x7.5"s or 8"s. Will paint them semi gloss black and run a red pinstripe around the lip. Hopefully will look bawse.
  2. Did he just bolt one on or did he fully rebuild it/tune to suit? May be looking at either putting a small turbo onto it or sticking ITBs on it with a cold air intake setup.
  3. Just brought this Suzuki Swift and picking it up later this afternoon. Always loved these little hatchys and you dont see many of them around. Was going to funnel my money into my Mirage project but after doing some calculations I had to get around the fact that I'm still at least a few grand away from getting it to a legal standard, and I need a daily for the mean time. Its a bit rough around the edges but I'm hoping to turn this into a little trackday car in the near future so I can start getting into motorsport. Its at mid 200km's so its definitely seen better days and i'm planning on giving it an overhaul in the next few months as compression was a little low in cylinder 2 (i'm pretty sure its either from worn piston rings or a bad valve but won't know til I do a wet compression test). Here's the Tardme pics... Seems to be in pretty decent nick, interior wise it has a tear on the drivers seat and the dash has a small crack in it. Externally there's only a few scratches around the edges of the bumpers and a small dent on the bonnet. The passenger door's handle seems quite frail, seal is fucked and window is sticking. If anyone knows where I can source parts for these it would be ideal. I'm looking at upgrading the ignition and intake, slap some widened steels onto it and slam on its ass. Chur
  4. +1 looks like a minter ay. Looks nicer than the fxgt's you see around.
  5. It looks bloody tidy mate. Cheers, will PM you dimensions of the bumper when I find out.
  6. Cheers Richard, i'll try get you the dimensions as soon as I can, they're not very big though as they are off an early mirage. Oh by the way I saw your Avenger parked up on Vipond Road about a week ago.
  7. Would anyone be able to bring some parts up from Horopito Motors for me? Just waiting on a reply from them but they should have a bumper, grille and filler panel for me. I'm up at whangaparoa, Auckland and a box of your choice will be provided. Chur
  8. Check all the terminals, make sure the bulbs are correct, also check the relay/flasher. Borrow someones and swap it over to see if it makes a difference.
  9. Im moving up to Stanmore bay at the end of the week so it wouldnt be the greatest :/. If this position is still available in about a month I may be interested though.
  10. Damn if only this was closer to Northshore.
  11. Some pics for ya. Engine and box out, stripped off alot of pieces for Footie as spares. Solex locks, if anyones after em Racepro sell em for $130-$150 depending on application. Judging from last time when I had those ROH wheels on my old Mirage, I figured I should get some bolt on spacers to make em flush. These came up 'as new' for as so inpulse bought. Hopefully they do the trick. Cars been at the panelbeaters for almost a week now. Will pop in and see what hes been up to shortly. Chur.
  12. Oh true all good man, yourself? I havn't actually mounted the g32b engine inside the vehicle yet but I'm pretty certain that its a straight bolt in as the engine mounts are same the same, and located on the same areas on the block. However I will be machining some new side mounts to allow the engine to sit stiffer as the current ones will cause the engine to rock back and fourth a fair amount. In my new Mirage it currently has the 4x2 supershift transmission but I will be getting rid of that and I'm upgrading to the transmission from the 1.8L Cordia turbo as this bolts directly onto the engine and should handle alot better than the old box. I didnt get a standard ecu & loom when I got the engine so I have gone with a Link ecu as one came up cheap with loom aswell. I'm switching the engine over from continuous injection to multipoint and have yet to finish making ports in the standard intake manifold so I can mount the gsr injectors. Will be a wasted spark setup and I will be using the dizzy as the pick up trigger. I havent actually got the engine in yet so I havent come across any problems so far. The car will be off to the panelbeater next week to get straightened out and have the engine bay repainted, then afterwards i'll get the engine in slowly get it all together and get it firing away. Hopefully there won't be any problems but who knows, I'm sure something will come up. The engine only cost me $100 which was a steal. It may take you quite awhile to come by, In the last 2 years I've only ever see 3 pop up on trademe but you may be able to get said engine or the 1.8 or 2l out of a Cordia or Sigma turbo. Hopefully it will go pretty hard! haha I've got no idea about the power figures that i'll achieve. Will be interesting to see as it will have an upgrade fuel system, management and injection setup plus a larger turbo and will be intercooled. Yea struggled finding much info on Mirage engine upgrades as well. The 1984 Dodge/Plymouth Colt was released with the g32b turbo but I've seen pictures of other people putting GSR and early Evo motors into em and also the Sigma 2.0l Sirius DASH engine, these would probably take alot more effort and work to get in but would achieve more power! Have also been suggested to apply a 4g37 head onto the g32b to increase the compression. This is pretty much my first project so I don't fully know what i'm doing haha and learning as I go but I have alot of professional guidance and access to equipment so it's coming along pretty well. I will post as I progress and if you need any other help just let me know. Also please don't post in project threads but post in their discussion section as this helps to maintain tidy builds. Welcome to Oldschool!
  13. Sorry another post with no pictures . The box and engine have been stripped from the mirage now and the engine bay is pretty much stripped and ready to go to the panelbeaters! Will give him a call tomorrow and hopefully he can get started on fixing the rust, straightening out the front & rear and begin to paint the engine bay and door jams. Also some Cordia brakes arrived last week. They have as new Brembo slotted rotors and Mintex race pads. Plenty of stopping power for the new engine going in. Chur.
  14. Fuck that will be sick if you can get it like that photoshop! Makes me want one badley :L
  15. Had a qualified mate of mine come and look at the chassis damage yesterday and he said it's fine and wont stop me from getting a wof or cert. He said that if it was up by the suspension it would a different story but given that its right by the end it will be fine. Been hectic at home because we're moving out in a few days but after we've settle at the new place i'll get stuck in again. Gonna try get the engine and box out then strip the bay & send it to the panelbeater as soon as I can to get the rust fixed, rear, front straightened out and have the bay painted in gloss black. After its back i'll get the engine in get the exhaust and manifold + intercooler plumbing measured up and finish off the intake manifold Peace.
  16. got a tc04 i'll flick ya for $50 bucks if you want.
  17. Yea how can i rectify it? havent taken it in for a wof(not planning on it until I get the engine in but I will net to get it certfied). Will I be able get a panel beater to straighten it out and/or conceal ? or will I need to take it in to a specialist with one of those chassis rail straightener thingys? If so what are the prics like (I assume an arm and a leg for that stz)?
  18. Oh yea I see. Definately will be talking to professionals about the chassis kink shortly. Was a bitch trying to get a good angle for the camera as the exhaust was in the way :S. Does anyone roughly know how much it would cost to get such chassis damage rectified?
  19. Haha yea its sweet isnt it? To be honest I dont think it's THAT bad. I'm no expert but it looks as if you could easily cut it out and weld in a new plate for the doors on the two of the worst in the engine bay and the rest is only surface rust. Will ask around though and see what others think first before I do anything.
  20. Got some pictures today and had a good thorough look throughout the car. Will let the pics do the talking.. The worst of the rust... It's like this on all the doors. On the FL side of the engine bay. The car was repainted Windsor Blue about 4years ago. Was only an exterior respray but it looks quite nice. Heres a comparison of the old and new colours in the door jam. Started stripping off the bumpers and shit and bits in the engine bay. Want to try get the engine out this weekend or next and take the car to the panelbeater to get everything straightened out + rust fixed and get the engine bay repainted in gloss black and also have the door jams painted to match the exterior colour. Check how much bog was used here before the repaint.. Made me worried so I whipped the magnet out and dragged it across the car haha. Doesnt seem like much has been used, only a little in the front guards and a little on the rear quater panels. Oh and the reason why I'm after solex locks.. The overall condition is pretty decent apart from the obvious and I'm happy with it considering I didnt pay much. The main thing i'm concerned about is some slight chassis damage in the rear and I hope it wont affect me working on this car as its only minor but i'm not too sure what the tolerences are :S If it's all good i'll be a very happy camper and cant wait to get the engine into this haha! Chur
  21. Had a thorough check throught my new, old mirage today and noticed that there was a slight 'kink' in the chassis caused from a previous crash. Whats the story about chassis damage? What is tolerable when it comes to chassis bends? This is the LR side which has been unaffected compared to the RR side which has the 'kink' The bend only extends about 20-30mm in length and is just before the bumper mounts. Thanks in advance! Tai
