  1. yes! I don't really like the holy hole headliners, this is tweed, little bit custom, little bit hod rod. I like. what you thinking for yours? wanna do the ragtop oneday?
  2. fuck. lucky you got off the motorway, no shoulder there! got luck with the rebuild/burning car to the ground in a fit of rage.
  3. I love thing project, makes me want to build one day! go boy go!!
  4. Just bought some of those, I'm sure they are all the same, crap. beating into shape at the moment.
  5. I also made these this week. this is the end cap thing for the front of the heater channel these hold the nut plate things in place inside the channels, the second one I made was a much better design. and goes together like this. The old nut plate(is that even what they're called?) where badly pitted so I had the guys across the road knock me up some new ones. this resto is brought to you by woodstock bourbon and cola.
  6. haha, of course I'm tempted, just broke ass. I want to just get it back on the road, then build a complete engine up later. or maybe....... http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/volkswagen/auction-845903618.htm
  7. I've got a stet of 36mm Dells, need to rebuild them. I've also got a CSP bell crank(I think that what it's call) linkage so the manifolds where the last (nearly) part of the puzzle. Still need a fuel pump block off plate, filters and/or stacks etc.. I've wanted duel carbs for so long! very happy.
  8. gotta be something english surely. I 2nd the triumph big block

  12. araldite? hope you can get them off! no nats for me sorry, I am now that guy whos says " I'm gunna have my car finished for x" and then doesn't might take the family up to the bug jam though.
  13. yeah that's cool. did you fix the rocker covers? I had a similar trip up the mandel years ago, i had just got my flash new engine running, complete with chrome rocker covers which just will not hold the seals in place. got some good solid factory covers and those big fucking clip things, sorted.
  14. ah, I thought you had drop spindles. nah, he has a very nice Holden Statesman, hes a GC.
  15. oh you can always go lower, just dig a hole! nah not lower, narrower. don't those disc set-ups push the track out wider? also my neighbour said he was chatting to you the cars and coffee thing the other day, he said you bug looked awesome. his old man had a oval way back.

  17. no angst, just prolly would have been easier to drop the wee block out. I don't even know how you got the fan shroud off with the engine still in the car?
  18. yeah fully, I would have been pissed if it was a 55 or something, but I realize it an't a minter. just trying to save you some work in the long run. Feel free to ask any questions, I've a wealth of useless infomation. the drivers door always sag, you can get over sized stainless hinge pins, once you get the old ones out. this is what you need to remove the old pin I drilled mine out, which is quite a mission but worked, till I did the bottom one. I removed the running board, jacked the car up and drill from below, I forgot the car was on a angle and drilled out the side of the hinge, another thing I still need to fix!
  19. fuck man, you know these are the easiest engine in the world to remove right? 4 bolts and yank.
  20. Well here we are, the start of another year and my car is still not anywhere near being finished Must keep pushing! This Fab work does eat up the time loVol, I just want to do the best job I can, and I can't afford top shelf parts, so it's hammer time! Didn't really get much done over the holidays, so hot in the shed, swimming is better. I did wire wheeled/blasted these parts up. don't think I will be able to save the hinge cover though, just to tricky with my limited skills and tools. Also wirewheeled my arm Glued the scoop to the new inner panel thing(there is a hole on the other side ) and welded it in here. I hoping to get the heat working when she back on the road. I have been spending a lot of time messing around with bottom plate, I think the best thing is to finish all the other repairs to the channels on both sides, then test fit the shell to the pan before welding the bottom plates on for good. I don't know, I've never don this before! The plates seem to fit the pan perfect, but when I stick them on the shell they seem 5-10mm short? So a test fit seems prudent. I had to dig the pan out to get to all the camping stuff for the hoilday so I took a couple snaps. A little pitting, but so solid So that's it for now, I've been working on the patches for the front and rear quarters this week, but can't actually weld anything yet until the A pillar in back in place and I can fit the door, so till then i'll keep hammering.
