  1. This happened to me once, had taken battery out, put back in and didn't tighten battery terminal connectors. Fixed by tightening connectors. Felt a bit dumb but oh well.
  2. Good score! Had one just like this as my first car but not this tidy. Cost $120 in Dunedin. We picked up a drunk Taine Randell one night and dropped him home and he ripped the back seat the fat cunt.
  3. Yeah drove back the weekend of the cyclone but was no drama except when I first turned to go on to the motorway and put my foot down and the back stepped out big time. The tires are only 165's and the lack of traction round corners is sometimes a wee bit sketchy. Thanks again mate.
  4. After keeping my eye out for a good one of these for a while this 1973 Mitsubishi Galant GTO popped up on here a couple of months ago and it now resides in my garage. Big thanks to forum member Runamuck who got me in touch with the owner Basil. Had a bit of a chat with Basil, liked what I heard so we agreed on a price and I posted a cheque down to Basil and Captain Transporter bought the GTO up to Auckland where I picked it up and drove it up to Whangarei. It drove perfectly and was a bit more powerful than I expected. The engine has been reconditioned relatively recently and doesn't use any oil or water which is a first for any Mitsubishi I have owned. The interior is pretty good . Could possibly do with some new carpets but not urgent. Has the original AM radio so listened to talkback all the way home. Was relatively enjoyable so I think the AM radio will probably stay. The paint is not too bad. It's definitely not perfect with quite a bit of brushed on other shades of yellow in areas where surface rust was obviously treated. The passenger door is a slightly different shade too. I wasn't that sold on the yellow when I saw the original pics and the plan was/is to respray back to original silver but the yellow has grown on me. A respray, if it happens, will be a few years down the track. It's had a few little nudges over the year, the original wheels have been painted silver, the front grill has a few cracks and there are various other little bits that need attending to but all in all it's a bloody honest little car and a real credit to the previous owners. Plans? This will be relatively slow. Need to find a couple of badges that are broken, I want to take the rear screen out and check a leak going into the boot (I think there may be some rust around the screen), then get the dents taken out of the bumpers/rechrome and basically tidy her up. The skinny rear wheels on her can be a bit frightening powering through corners so maybe a set of wider wheels but I don't really want to ruin the originality of the car. Maybe some Advan A3A's and a little bit lower might work. Feel free to comment or maybe even tell me where I can get an air filter for her. The paperwork included with the car seems to indicate the mechanic couldn't find one to replace the dirty one in there at the moment and I haven't got around to looking! 5. What about a 4g63t out of a starion? Should be more straight forward and relatively cheap.
  6. Good score. I love these sigmas with the twin round headlights. Looking forward to what you're going to do with it.
  7. I'm up north for a fishing holiday this week. Did you see the pair of front shocks for sigma on trademe?
  8. Here ya go. Sorry about the crap photos. Let me know if they are of use.
  9. Nah up in Whangarei. Can courier/post. Not 100% sure they'll fit but someone else may have a better idea?
  10. Got a pair of 1985 Mirage shocks if you want them. Brand new old stock. Can take a pic if you want, I'm not going to be using them.
  11. Whoa thread from the dead. Get a boost tap and tee it in line with the tubing that goes to the wastgate actuator (actuator is the metal cylinder thing). Then you can adjust how much air you bleed off (and therefore how much the actuator sees) so that the actuator opens the wastegate at a higher boost pressure.
  12. If all else fails sell the car to me. Edit: Quite serious.
  13. Squirt a bit of fuel into the throttlebody and see if it stutters into life. Sounds like fuel problem. Is this Mike?
  14. If you do indeed find a couple of sets I am very keen for one too!
  15. Sorry I don't know you but this deserves a "reminds me of your mum" joke.
  16. Just replacing some bits of the fuel line on the starion and I need some flare nuts for 3/8" line and also some an-6 fittings for the braided section from hard line to pump. Where's the best place to buy these individually? Cheers
  17. Hey MACKAZ, only got my 88 starion at the mo - Does that count as old school? If so I'll be in.
  18. Yeah she's fairly tidy but looks better in the pics. Nissan turbodiesel apparently bolts right up to the merc gbox so I'll keep an eye out. Widebody has been through MAF and customs and head to compliance centre this week. That'll be interesting - I'll be gutted if that turns into a massive project thread to get it complied!
  19. I decided to buy a diesel merc. Wanted some chrome and ability to run on Vege oil in the future. Picked this up - a 74 W115 220d which had approx 48 horsepower when new. It also weighs near 2 tonne so I'm not going to be winning any races in it. Plans are to get it closer to the ground I think with W107 springs but not sure if this will work. It'll be fun trying. It's in reasonable nick, no carpets inside, bit of a hole in the top of the rear seat, fan doesn't go etc.. and I know nothing about diesels so it's going to be a learning curve. Also waiting on some glow plugs at the moment so it also isn't running. Pics - My semi old-school daily - 83 Starion, LSD, intercooler etc... And my immac UK Starion which is getting complied at the moment Enjoy
