I have a set of those wheels I can sell you. It just looks so right! It's looking really good man, no hidden surprises on this one plz.
-
I'll still be using them, just not for daily driving I guess.
-
Choice, thanks man. Doesn't sound like I'll be certing the wider set anyway, there's pretty much zero chance of fitting 235's or even 225's under standard ae86 guards.
-
I have heard tell of certing multiple sets of wheels for road use, is this true? I.e one set of 14x6.5 and another wider, staggered set for wanking over/meets.

Choice. Just found out the other day that Dad is mates with a locksmith. Sorted. Got a box of indicators the other week. Almost sorted for those now. Just trying to scrape together some coin to get the cylinder bored for the new piston.
-
Oh Yeah? I'll have a look. It doesn't have a locking fuel cap, but I'll check those other spots.
-
Chur, yeah. Takes about 3 seconds to take the ignition switch off. Just take that in maybe.
-
It's the other things too, like the seat lock and steering lock. That would do for a temporary though. I'll try calling a Honda dealer and/or locksmith I guess.
-
How would I find the code? Could a dealer tell me from a chassis number or something?

New piston has arrived. It's nice. "Winning with Wiseco". Does anyone know much about the locks on these older jap bikes? I've just realised that I don't have a key for this thing. So my options are: New set of locks and keys, or try and find a locksmith to cut a key to suit the lock? Or are they like my 80's toyotas where one key starts pretty much all of them?

Your starter solenoid needs new contacts. Should only cost like 12 bucks if you can do it yourself. Carry a hammer and give it a tap if you get stuck in the meantime.

Yah, I bought a T50 for my 85, lost and and bought another one for like $45 total. Let me know how you get on with tie rod ends. I'm after a PS pair, Partmaster told me they were the same.
-
Yeah? Hah, well it'll be properly for sale as soon as Doin donuts has finished using it. What was his name?

No update on this car, except that I sprayed the D pillar with the missing trim matte black to match the other side using my hand as masking. Turned out mint, no pictures. It just occurred to me that I don't think I've ever put pics of my ae85 up on here, it's not that oldschool or unusual, just another ae85 build. It's nothing special. I bought it "90% finished" and subsequently had to re do EVERYTHING that the last owner had done. Now: Smallport 4age W55 box w/ Niteparts bell TE71 T series diskbrake rear w/ TRD LSD (unsure what type, came super cheap off yahoo with no description). BC Gold suspension AE86 red interior L4VNDR PPlate Needs the wiring finished (Brad aka XS1V has rewired the entire front of the car, hence panels off) and to be put back together so I can measure up for the driveshaft then done. Just gonna bog and spray the rear 1/4. Discussion: //oldschool.co.nz/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=30489&hilit=carina

To coin a phrase: Jeah. First of my ebay packages. Not in perfect condition visually, but good enough for me!

NOS Wiseco oversize piston and rings = purchased.

Ah, just realised I misread your first post. Makes more sense in my head now I'll see how time goes tomorrow, may get a chance to whip the barrel off after breakfast. EDIT: Bah, can you tell I'm an amateur? Didn't realise the cylinder was fastened with the same bolts as the head. Cylinder has some pretty bad damage below both the intake and exhaust ports, the exhaust side is worse. Bottom end seems ok to me, but I have no idea what I'm looking for.
-
Yeah, I'm not overly concerned about the piston, I'm asking if anyone might be able to tell why it wasn't running when it was parked up. I am not likely to be stripping the bottom end before exams (I say now), but I'm really keen to know what I need to buy.

Additional parts that are missing/need replacing: Rear guard Speed/tach cable Indicators

Got stuck in for a bit more today, I can always do these exams again next semester amirite? Got the motor off/out and whipped the head off. Top of the piston looks a bit coked bit otherwise ok (the crumbly looking bit at the edge is just the photo/trick of the light) and I managed to get a picture of the side of the piston. How does it look experts? I also found a helmet visor tucked in between the engine covers in the parts box: I already had this: Now I have this: Very happy, period spec-ish helmet.
-
Just have to disconnect accelerator cable and oil hose thing and the engine is out. Choice. Looking at the side of the piston through the exhaust port, it's got some really heavy heavy scoring all down the side. I'm expecting something pretty terminal when I strip it down.

Plan. So excited for dailying it to uni. Fuck you, 45 minute bus ride.

Sounds perfect thanks! I'm in Glenfield. I'll PM you.
