  1. So got it all back together started it up and ran it up to temp, no leaks anywhere then went for a quick blast down the road to see how it was running which it was nicely but when I got back I noticed the top radiator hose was dry so looked under the oil cap and uhhohh it was all milky. Though it must have a BHG or the head had gone soft again so I whipped the head off to find the gasket was intact and the water galleries in good nick with a little bit of corrosion but nothing getting close to the combustion chambers so Im stumped as to what the problem is. Guess Il get the head crack tested then put it all back together and hope for the best
  2. Was @ pickapart TGA today there were 2 Estima peoplemoovers with cable shifted W56 gbox. Tiz floorshift but could adapt cables to column shift for manjewl 1uz?
  3. Extreme Automotive in Newton Street @ the mount are GC's. They know there shit and give good discounts
  4. Useless picktureless update: Intake manifold crack has been welded and cleaned teh ICV to hopefully fix the 1800rpm idle New P/S pump has been fitted Many hours were spent stripping the loom down and fixing taped poorly crimped joints, now its all cleaned up and taped up nicely ECU has been shifted from the carpet behind the drivers seat to the compartment under the drivers seat that used to hold a huge and heavy heater/aircon for the rear compartment Weight reduction has begun and so far $15 worth of aircon crap has been removed
  5. Fit a resistor pack to the injector feeds?
  6. Looking good nick, got a deadline for completion?/finish it for OS Nats 12
  7. an old intake/exhaust valve with the stem bent 90 degrees about halfway up makes a great locking tool for wedging in the ring gear
  8. I might try that, it works for making manifolds its just got to be set to fuckin hot LB-tpUEpOP8
  9. Finding suitable BBS RS is the hard part I may have to get some off Yahoo JP when funds allow as for the hilux decals they will be staying, they break up the creamness of the thing
  10. Too tight to get an angle grinder in there Will have to get a center punch and try drilling them out
  11. Sweet seats scored at swapmeat in the weekend for a very good price Need some flat bar to mount them to the rails and we will be away laughing Chopper agrees that they are super sweet too 3y decided to start drinking water and become a coffee machine as there was a nice cappuccino brewing away under the oil cap, banged a sealwell cube in the radiator and it seems to be holding for now so a new engine is needed. Finding a 1ggze would make my day
  12. Looks mint loving the colour Needs more 1jz You should sell me the 1g I want one for my hilux but there impossible to find these days at the wreckers
  13. I need to get these out so I can fit new seats to the rails Was thinking of drilling them out or trying a cold chisel and hammer but if theres an easier way to do it im all ears
  14. How does the reverse light switch in a G52 gearbox work? Does the circuit ground through the switch when reverse is selected?

    PTO hydraulics

Is belt driven PTO really that bad? Mitsi canter trucks we have at work run belt PTO and they run the hirail wheels up and down and a palfinger crane fine all day long.
  16. Gem blades are the go.
  17. Anyone have a welder and keen to do a couple little jobs for beer/cash/etc I need a crack in an intake manifold welded and maybe a gusset welded on to stop it cracking again, and my spare diff head "fixed"
  18. Long time no update... The extractors were shot from being a shoddy job and ended up like this. Damm evil heat wrap! That happened last september, its been off the road since then as becoming a dad costs precious money so it took a while to get these made up. Nice new extractors, it seems to go better now but its been a while since I drove it and anything seems fast compared to a 3y hilux. I was curious to how much of a whale it actually is so ran it over the weighbridge at work. 1480kg with about 10l petrol and no driver so shes a bit fat, but its still got all rear interior and a shit ton of useless aircon stuff to strip out to make it doort better. After what this years Nats looked like im full of motivation and the plans it bring this to Nats next year, the gymkhana looks fun First things to do are get a crack in the intake manifold fixed, fit a pair of $50 Trademe Recaro's and get the spare diff head welded up.
  19. I go kawerau to tauranga every couple of weeks. Could get it to TGA for you no prob
  20. Sounds like it could be UJ or hangar bearings. Surfs did come out with a 2 ltr petrol 3y btw
  21. PM fred who built the red ute, he knows all the ins and outs of fe3 engines and can fill your head will all the info you need

    3y + sc14?

Welding up a turbo manifold would be too much for my very limited engineering experience plus theres heaps of room on the drivers side of a 3y to mount a sc14 and having boost from idle is what a ute needs to get it moving IMO
  23. Correct me if Im wrong but AFAIK there is no difference between the internals other than the water outlets on the head and different cams to a mazda fe3.
  24. Fe3 Dohc do come out as a rwd but badged as a Kia, if you were going to do a fe3 conversion this would be the easiest way to go as they have a CAS to run the spark so no cutting the firewall to fit a dizzy, have rwd orientated water outlets and a over the rocker cover style intake manifold. One being wrecked here: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Wrecked-cars/auction-373769414.htm These aussie cats used a kia engine in there courier and ran it off a mitsi loom and ecu http://www.mx6.com/forums/fe-dohc/234666-rwd-bell-housing-differences-slant-straight-new-project-pics-too.html edit: the blocks share the same castings as SOHC carby Fe/f8 engines found in most courier/b2000 utes or bongo/econovan I was doing a capella fe3 conversion into a bongo a while ago and fitted the powersteering pump, alternator, sump and pickup off the carby FE engine that was originally in the bongo to make life simple. This was when sportages were relatively new and expensive still otherwise I would of used a KIA engine
