  1. I would expect Palmside to be pretty knowledgable on which bits to go for. They are pretty into Escorts. Not saying don't ask here, but more so that when i've been in there they have been helpful. Wasn't for jets, but still.
  2. If there isn't much force on the reverse motion, could just weld some nuts to a tube and tighten bolts through them onto the shaft. like this
  3. You have to prove it's been on the road I think. Give NZTA a call.
  4. What could possibly go wrong, right?
  5. Are they claiming that is a NZ rule? Sounds like BS to me. Contact local cylinder tester perhaps if you have one to get done. http://underpressuretesting.co.nz/#contact did my CO2 cylinder.
  6. Any chance of a cheeky pie graph? Congrats though, looked like a lot of fun.
  7. That's a shame. At least it did it before you spent hours removing it and installing it in the other car.
  8. Are they 24v or just need the cranking? For some reason I assumed 12v, but even stop start vehicles work on a single battery so perhaps not.
  9. What's the deal with two batteries, and even different ones on a surf?
  10. You know when the company selling them doesn't even know the legality it's a good sign. Ignoring legality, just poor customer service on their behalf. As you were.
  11. Not sure what is considered central, but could get in touch with https://strangeworkshop.co.nz/
  12. Good luck is all I can say. I had enough trouble finding options for my 14x7.5" wheels. No worries if not going for cert, but when going for cert, the options were slim to none. I don't have the chart handy to know what fits. But when I was looking for my 7.5's, 195/45 was the best option I could find locally. Which at the time was one brand and they have limited supply and didn't bring them into the country often. I ended up changing to 7" wheels sadly, which is a lame solution but the easiest option for me. And 15" which is another sin, but tyre options were plentiful. As I say though good luck, if you can make it work, it will be worth it. May just have to look overseas at their options, Japan perhaps.
  13. We don't like to encourage such things. Yours is in the mail
  14. Saw this on my feed, thanks all seeing eye. Battery resto
  15. Logic also dictates that if you make a battery not last a long time, you can sell more batteries. Guess which logic a battery manufacturer goes with?
  16. Just hook it to the wall, job done / acid in many places. Or wrong power flavour?
  17. Ah yeah didn't think about that loading. Banana shock anyone? My rear shocks came with similar length sleeve which doesn't make sense (to me) when you have a shock with that much thread to make use of. I ended up swapping mine for sleeves twice as long. Eye is pressed into bottom of sleeve so different design in that area.
  18. Could add gussets full length of the sleeve?

Water trap at compressor is wrong. Do some homework on that. Pretty sure it's pointless in that location. As mentioned above, cooling is needed. There should be plenty of guides online as to how to set it all up for best results.
  20. Yeah doesn't look like it's first rodeo, that wheel arch.

Yeah i've gone away from air for most of my stuff, so I have a $1500 compressor to blow up tyres / balloons... Electric would be my pic too for big jobs. I tend to do smaller ones so roll a 125mm battery sander and a few batteries. Ain't no pristine paint jobs leaving my shed though. Air is good, especially if you have a big shop. But it's pretty noisy and a decent compressor is $$$ so you'd have to be pretty into it for that to pay off IMO.
  22. Yeah a quick google provides some pretty telling evidence that welding with brake cleaned metal is dumb. Can't help if people get upset at being called out I guess.
  23. You can do what you want. Someone has pointed out there are safer, better suited products for the job and you're not interested. Clearly you're not actually willing to take advice onboard so why even start an asking for advice thread in the first place. Even if it is for other welding issues. People swore by asbestos too, how did that work out. "I've used asbestos for years mate, haven't died so it's perfectly safe". Rhetorical question, I couldn't care less.
  24. Brake clean for its intended purpose is not the same as using it to clean metal for welding.
