  1. Just bumping this in case of new members or interest.. Rego still live, rust is still progressing... will need someone with time and skills to remove rust from various parts of the body, tidy up paint and finish off the original work.. quite bad rust in one sil last time I looked (last time I checked theres companies making whole sil sections new) bonnet is starting to crumble away on front edge. small hole on the roof/rain gutter probably a bunch of other areas, so not a quick patch job.. hasnt run in years but was a very low milage and tidy rb30e when I installed it and drove wonderfully back then. Keep hoping some rich old dude will offer me stupid money for it and then give it the open cheque book restoration it deserves but dreams aren't reality. So if anyone wants to get their hands on an increasingly rare NZ assembled '81 SLE VB (retrofitted to vl engine and box), youll have to put in some work to get her back to her glory but would make a nice piece of history in their collection for someone whos into these things. Hard to part with but guilt of letting it rot is painful. :'( PM for inquiries and can arrange recent pics/info blah blah
  2. I know this isnt really the right place to put this, but just wondering if anyone in here would be interested in taking on this project... in the last decade since I started this I went through a few ups n downs.. was out of work for ages, moved house a couple of times and basically just lost all motivation... has been sitting down my driveway for last 6 years and hasnt been run for 2 or 3... its definitely in a much shabbier state having sat outside, rust is starting to set in.. I dont really want to let it go, but it feels like a crime letting it rust away and with these things getting rarer and more sought after then perhaps the right thing to do is let it go to someone who would actually do it some justice... this is merely a query to see if theres any interest which is why Im not clogging up the for sale section posting it in there.. I got the car to a running stage. even drove it around a couple of times (naughty naughty) still needed some minor things like fuel gauge hooked up, fl window reg/motor (currently held up by some nifty wood props ) minor interior things. obviously still needed a cert blah blah. probably needs a bunch of bushes and shit like that.. Also due to my neglect the paint has suffered and rust has set it rather harshly on one of the sills by the rear wheel well etc. So all in all, it needs a bit of work, but definitely doable to someone with those skill sets.. but shit.. I dont know how to weld.. Im not a sparky.. im barely a mechanic... so my options are to pour money I dont have into it... or let it rust like a criminal... or let it move on to someone who can give it the love it deserves.. If anyone thinks they might be interested then reply in thread discussion (link in my signature) or pm me... can get some more recent pics.. Im still not sure this is actually what I want to do but im open to discussing it. Keep seeing standard VK wagons being sold for stupid prices like $15k plus these days, so a genuine SLE VB ought to be a far better piece of automotive history and will be a great piece in someone collection when finished...
  3. ^ One of the best game series! Loved Keen Dreams
  4. For those wishing to relive the games of their youth without having to build a vintage machine: https://www.myabandonware.com/
  5. been holding on to these for a few decades now... such a good game although I was never that great at it.. I was probably about 6 or 7 when I last remember us playing it.. Did revisit it again last year sometime as pretty much all of those games are available to play in your web browser (abandonware I think the site was?) and I think I downloaded a copy to run in dosbox as well.. but its cool seeing some of the old stuff still around
  6. Hole is probably too high for it to be used as a bong.. but what I really wanted to comment is, as someone who has experience cutting glass etc, that is IMPRESSIVE that he managed that with a hand drill !
  7. i wish I had better pics of the R32 to be honest.. I put a lot more work into that one, especially the doors, they swung open and you could move the windows to fully down or click it back up into the raised position. modified the factory engine detail to make the turbos bigger. made individual intakes and filters instead of the plastic airbox arrangement, intercooler and piping, full exhaust etc. the paint was like 3 different layers to and weathered to give it the appearance of a drift missile thats been resprayed in the past but skimmed a few walls at the track. you can actually see the different colours showing through in some spots. I just remembered it originally came with a clear bonnet, probably should have left it clear but it just looked too fake so it got a paintjob too.. the AE86 never got finished, I just ran out of enthusiasm. Just had a quick look at it before and it looks soo bad now, the paint is all filthy and coated in dust poor thing...
  8. Found a couple more pics on my phone... pretty terrible pics sorry.. but yeah Aoshima 1/24 Trueno it came with engine detail and also had a spring suspension setup (basically just normal plastic struts but with teeny tiny real springs like from inside a pen) took springs out Lowered the body shell itself on to the bottom plate as well as chopped the back out a bit to allow the diff to really slam right down had to cut down the firewall and sides of engine bay to allow body to go down further but massively misjudged and so had to build it back up again with modeling clay custom exhaust with side exit made from alloy tubing had a stab at making front lip and sideskirts from modelling clay cold air induction pipe from front bumper found some tiny rubber tubing somewhere to make into sparkplug leads custom intake pipe and filter made from alloy and clay its been bashed up a bit from moving house and neglect, ill try get some photos of the underside as thats where most of the work was done trying to get it sitting right while still roll freely (thats a thing for me, its gotta still be able to roll even if its not perfectly smooth, not a fan of just gluing wheels in place etc) had an RX7 kit i never really finished that I robbed the 13b out of as well and can exchange that for the 4age if wanted
  9. found some more pics on my facebook including the r33 i never really finished.. decided to see how ridiculous i could get it without being unrealistic = stoopid camber
  10. sorry about the image sizes// i didnt realise how giant they were
  11. Tamiya R32 with engine detail. did some hack and chop mods including frontmount and piping, lowering. I also chopped the doors out of the body, and the doorcards out of the interior tub, then using modelling putty i created the skin to give it the correct thickness and also cut the windows out of the glass section, so that they could independently slide up and down inside the doors. had little tabs so they would click in at the right position to make them stay up... still cant believe i managed that, was about 10 years ago now. oh and bought some modelling alloy tubing in different diameters to create an actual dump pipe back exhaust with bigbore muffler... left it at a friends years ago and never went and got it back oh the boot opens too.. made a little scale bra to hang out the back like the cool kids used to do back then
  12. Yeahhhh Sorry guys. Shit sorta fell apart for me for a bit, and no longer have suitable facilities/equipment to provide quality service. Perhaps an admin could close/remove this thread now to tidy things up. Sorry to those who were inconvenienced and if its any consolation I am thoroughly ashamed of not being able to help OS members out.. Thanks.
  13. Bit late to the party but AALAWS is on the money, bit of glue.. Personally I put joins at the bottom... that way if its not super watertight it acts as drainage rather than a potential leak.. A mastic sealant around the rubber and glass just to be certain as british stuff is always a bit wobbly/leaky... Looking awesome mate!
  14. Is this the car Ive seen once or twice driving through Johnsonville Wellington? If so.. god level car.. you rolled past through the countdown carpark one day, and I was just by the crossing to the entrance, I stopped and did a bow/praise to thee motion as you rolled past. you chuckled... Thats if its the same car.. Either way. jealous as tits man... I have asked myself regularly over the years, what is my definition of success? My answer for quite a few years now has remained the same. Owning one of these, and having my own personal driver or valet (manservant, not the car parking one) and it'll will be part of his contract that he will be referred to and answer to the name Jeeves... <3
  15. Havent done an Austin before personally, but have done quite a few minis, jansen interceptor, bmw 2002, 60's jag etc so all pretty similar story. Best thing to do would be for me to view and assess. Sometimes its a relatively simple fix, other times its just a case of removing and refitting it correctly. PM me or my mobile 0273027141 Front screen? Thats the hilux surf correct? So they're a urethane (glued in ) job. So you want screen removed and then reinstalled with replacement trim? Just need to clarify job specs before quoting. My number is above if you would prefer. Depends on vehicle and fitting type. Rubber mounted or urethane? PM or call/text with details for accurate quote. Yes! Get in touch and we'll see what I can do for you.
  16. Auto glazing. Windscreens/Rear screens/Door glasses/remove and refits. Need windows replaced or removed and refitted for rust/bodywork? I'm a fully qualified autoglazier with 10 years experience. Cheap cash work. Mobile. Keen passion for doing the job right and to highest quality. Based in Johnsonville but can come to your place/workshops. PM or reply for queries and quotes.
  17. Quick question. This is a sedan and not a Hardtop correct? I mean thats what I thought, but we're doing a windscreen for an old chap with one of these, I havent seen the vehicle myself but the guys who went to do the job had no idea about that and didnt think to look, making my job bloody difficult. Also our supplier does not make sedan version windscreen so I was kinda hoping I was wrong and this is what they call a hardtop? but im pretty sure its sedan yes? Do you know anyone that has parts for these? A windscreen in particular?
  18. Car has been sold and now being ruined by an acquaintance. Could an op please remove this thread? Tidy forum and all that? Ta... Ill miss you Girl...
  19. Id be keen to come along and meet ya'll chaps finally.. got no oldschool whip running atm but flatmate has an r31 so we may pop along in that... Once I meet you guys and get to know ya a bit I could be interested in hosting some meat and greets, i think I can lay hands on a barbecue and our flat is in an industrial area just off the motorway in the hutt (Hebden Cres) so quite a bit of parking on the street, also sweet sloped driveway that someones put a bit of diesel on in the past so could even do skids if anyones into that... But yeah, Ill see if I can make it to this meet and get to know yous and go from there.. I have met a few members in the past, played hockey with Grinter years ago, met KK through here/work etc. But yet to meet many of you.
  20. Ahahaha thats fucken classic Thanks for the help, will probably use some of the stuff you have written there... We dont do any welding or anything anyway, its only for minimal shit and we basically just use a rust neutralizer, give it a grind afterwards and then paint it up. So not a lot of risk involved. but just want something that basically says if the rust comes back again well then we tried our best... unlikely to happen, but still... you get some nobjockey customers out there. Thanks for all the help and the laughs
  21. Hey all, I work for a branch of Novus Autoglass and we have started offering to do minor rust repairs for customers around the windscreen aperture and we need to write a small disclaimer basically stating that we cant guarantee that it will stop rust forever blah blah. Does anyone work for a panel beater and if so how do you guys deal with stuff like this? Do you have a disclaimer for rust work? Can anyone give me a sample of there disclaimer or something like that? Any help appreciated. Thanks Reuben 'singlespinnerwinner' Evans
  22. Wow... At first I was all, Great! Another fucking starfire... But as everyone else has said so far, everything else you have done far outshadows that minor detail... What a cool car you have created.. Im an early commy fan too as ya can see.. Got a VB running a VL rb30e.. however its definitely not as cool as this haha gimme your wheels kent! Also thats nice to know about the wagon struts being shorter, that'll be handy when i finally bother to low it a bit Keep it up!
