  2. Hey dude - great work - heres a pic of my old boss's targa vectra - genuine 16v with the independent rear end. The rear arms are very similar to vr vs commodore ones and you can use the holden adjustable bush kit in them. I no you have a solid rear but are the mounts etc in the body so you can bolt all that stuff up??? this one handled and gripped like you wouldnt believe - he has also done alot of head work etc and it runs a quaife LSD ( just point and nail the gas and it goes). We did the Vectra B brake upgrade - calipers bolted straight on and have a way bigger pad / brake surface area and just had the disks redrilled to 4 stud. Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  3. Hey - hes at least driven all three of his project cars - more than i can say for my lot.
  4. Hey guys the 230 240c wagon is mine - a long term project for lisa - she wants to work on it herself while im working on the 1200. i must update my build threads . Is got an ld28 diseasel but factory manual. Will either be 1UZFE powered or 2JZ ive decided - nothing like a bit of imbreeding - will throw up a build thread soon. Well done Chris - finally a datsun - and one you can daily - now back to work on that chevette
  5. Great to see its gone to a good home - same for the second one too. Good colour match to original - glad its not Porirua Pearl (matt black) or the likes. Burnouts - What burnouts? - maybe thats why chris has to purchase a new tyre haha Just needs 1 or 2J and an LSD for "sustained loss of traction"
  6. So a bit's happened since those photo's ^. Sunny sold. Lowered the grande, reg/wof, brakes & commodore shocks keeping it all toit! Picked up some widened 14x7 bluebird steels dirt cheap, Lick of paint, trim rings & chrome nuts! Removed cat, resonator and muffler, replaced with just the one muffler. Pod filter & stereo too! Double Grande all the way, what does it mean? Later picture shows the guard mirrors mounted up (thanks steelies). Measured where the mirrors should sit by pure chance of one coming into Chris's work. whipped out the hole saw and found the original support in the guards and missed the original holes by about 4mm, not bad going at all! 7. Im sorry what? Sunny's understeer horribly standard, pushrod with smaller capacity, no panhard rod or sway bars in the rear. Come out with leaves, all Gm/t's are coil sprung... No adjustment for camber/castor GFY! GM/T's are superior in every regard I have to agree with chris on this one - i mean the shovit even has rear swaybar etc factory - also dads ke25 corolla coupe has adjustable castor from factory - im sorry to say that the early datsuns were the most basic of there time.
  8. We will be there - parents are coming down from Hawkes Bay for this event - we went to Bruce McLaren revival at Hampton Downs was awesome - dont wear earplugs - just gotta harden up. Most of the time the F5000 class has to get special dispensation to run as they are so loud - think fully worked 5L V8 and open headers. They are also running a revival for the OSCA class - pretty much any engine in any car as long as it has big HP and weighs nothing - examples are the Don Grindley widebody RX7 with 500Hp buick V6 and the Trevor Crowe Starlet also wide body with 500hp rover v8 See you all there
  9. Downies as for this as CHCH will be hometown by then - rep the dattos bart challenge you to a duel. Anyone got a spare DET lying around to beat him with???
  10. Hey everyone, time for a move update... We ( Brendan Brock and Lisa ) are on the move and want to be down there ASAP - looking for jobs for the 3 of us ,anything really as long as its full time during the day sat morning ok - so 7am to 6pm (between those hours etc.). Lisa's chucking her job in in less than a month so would like to move around that time. I have a applied for a few jobs on trade me as well as asking through Bridgestone (Firestone and tony's) and SPT (beuies/ goodyear). Willing to do pretty much anything but obviously the more car realted the better. We will be renting our place out at this stage as the banks are poo's (if we sell we would need $35K for new loan on same $$ amount as the mortgage now - in other words they wont just change the title of the mortgage they want all our $$ and more so we said F**K YOU we want to build datsuns) and renting ourselves in CHCH. This way it gets us there asap. Let me know if you know of anything - contact numbers etc and i can ring around - just don't know many people yet but thats the fun of it aye. Cheers Brock
  11. That capri is a genuine "cologne capri" heres a link to another one - these must be worth sqillions http://www.conceptcarz.com/vehicle/z150 ... S3100.aspx and you can just see behind it the alfa Alfetta - has the engine where the front seats and gearbox usually go and the driver sits in the back seat - was used as a sports sedan in late 80's - ill upload pics aswell asap
  12. F5000 has around 30 cars can am have around 15 CanAM is for the win 3 cars are 8800cc yes that 8.8 litres of pure v8 with huge trumpet stacks. We are coming up in TUFDAT 120Y friday night and saturday night to make a weekend of it - maybe old school meet???
  13. dude its hastings they were proberbly filming for hours and i was the only one to drive past! man, was just dropping the mrs off in town then driving back to work. Its kinda hard to be "boyracing" when you're going like 10km thru an intersection lol that dudes a fuckwit tho anyway, been in trouble heaps for randomly bashing people so dunno what he's on about car looked mean tho hahahha had like 10 people ring and text before i even knew we were on was funny as
  14. driftnmaz is correct with the Castor thing - all depends on how much camber or Castor you have - if your going to use it on the track then i just set it up with everything even as most tracks are flat and your going harry hard out so a slight pull on the road shouldn't bother you.
  15. Yea the whole more camber on the left is true, to hold it up on the road due to the cambered roads we have here. The car will go to which ever side has less negative camber (basically think of the left wheel leaning over to the right or neg camber) on a straight road. But be careful as the Castor angle affects this to and is taken into consideration when wheel alignments are done (only good ones thou) Also if your getting your wheel alignment done make sure that during it, the wheel alignment tech hops in at some stage, to see what the cambers change to. Weight will change all the cambers. I'm 90kg and i change almost every wheel alignment by half a degree both sides sooooooooooooooooooo.... if you have -1 degree left and 0 on right and i hop in it'll go to -1.5 left and +.5 right. so the disparity between them gets more and more which can also cause probs - wearing tyres. It'll change again when you have a passenger and so on. We had 1 Holden Epica (shitbox) that drove mint with one of us driving it but it came back complaint of going to the left as the oldies were both in it all the time. Eventually as there is no camber adjust in the front of these we had to put an eccentric adjustable camber bolts in the struts - (can be done with all cars that have 2 bolts holding strut to hub (McPherson) etc - and you can get about 1.5 degrees adjustment out of them total. Eventually you get rid of the left hook and it drives beauty on most roads, and then will go to the right on level road ggggrrrrrrr. Sorry for the Rant - hope this helps you guys out.
  16. Hey dudes - cazza they must have been old stock still a good score thou - i cant even buy them for that much.
  17. good choice dude - just keep up with your wheel alignments etc as they are asymmetric and have an inside and outside edge - can go anywhere on the car, but when you wear an edge you cant flip them like non directional or directional (2 at a time). the asymmetric design has a stronger inner or outer edge (dependent on brand) which helps hold the Tyre up on hard cornering. ( you'll notice more turn in and probably a bit oversteery - doeson the bosses commy anyway) you'll notice the treads are completely different across the tyre - this is so different parts of the tyre work there magic in different conditions ( just to give you an idea if the bridgestone man hadn't already.)
  18. ill have a look for you - ill see if there's any yokos's etc or similar, my AD07 Yoko Neovas have held up well for over 30,000kms and two track days - no where near as much power as you thou - hows the repairs going.
  19. Mean 26 wags, ive got mine up for sale at the mo on Trademe. Got any interior pics - looks pretty tidy. Mine did the same shudder thing before i replaced the engine - new engine had brand new clutch and pressure plate - doesnt do it anymore. i would go for new clutch and pressure plate - gotta remember its over 30 years old. Also when you get a new one be carefull of the size and shape of the pressure plate. My old engine had different shape to old one so when we slapped the new one in, the clutch is at full adjustment at the firewall, and needed a spacer behind the washer to pull it out further for better feel. Do the thrust bearing or itl just anoy u and youl hav to pull it out again. Hope that helps Brock
  20. Yea no swaybar at the mo - was hitting engine at trackday haha. iv got the wagon leaves in now so shouldnt roll around when i get the sway rod back in lol. i was doing 14's but can get down to 13.8
  21. Heres some pics - cheers Brock and Lisa. (Brendan couldnt multi task and take pics aswell as vids. We own those 12's Videos
