  1. Is the mast telescopic or does it extend in one piece?
  2. What are you trying to do? There may be another solution.
  3. Why not run the winch through a series of pulleys/block and tackle. Pretty easy to figure out the ratio and how much slower it will be.
  4. I hope that grease isn't too tacky or it'll absorb all the road dust/grime/crap and make it yuck to wind in about 2 years time. Personally I would have gone for a grease like spray on lithium grease.
  5. It doesn't say in the article but it looks like in your photo that there are 2 points of contact for the window to attach to the regulator and that the points are independent of each other once the cable is withdrawn - so personally I would put them at a known point on the winder (like fully up or fully down) and then mark on the tube where both of them sit before pulling the inner cable out. That will mean you can't paint the tube unless you have some other way of getting the mark to stay visible after you have painted and before reassembly.
  6. First Question - https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=335018 (steps 14-16) Second Question - VHT do a REALLY good vinyl paint. I got mine from Repco but probably plenty of places to get it from.
  7. I hope if you are ditching the Hemi then you are going to put in something grouse like TD42+T Safari running gear.
  8. Remember The Good Life when Tom converted his rotary cultivator/hoe into a vehicle to drive to the shops?
  9. preferably not - but I'll consider anything right now
  10. No, but good idea. Will keep it in the old grey cells if current avenues are fruitless. Was next on the suggestion list from the panelbeater. Would be mucho aprecciato if you could do this for me.
  11. Shop did it. Just get them to send the part to Spiro and tell him to send it on with some Melbourne heroin stuffed in the bulb holders.
  12. Not 12 slots- factory steel mang. Yes definitely!! We thought we had one but turned out it was for an XF (which is different of course LOL)
  13. It's on the mend - yay insurance!
  14. Do them both together. A poked condensor causes points to burn out so the new points have probably already been poked too. I think the only place to get the condensor from was genuine Ford parts.
  15. These had points and condensor right up until the early 2000s. Replace both of those. From memory the condensor is a cunt to buy but definitely do both. Never do just one. Also if you do the job yourself, be very certain about cleaning the anti corrosion coating off the contact tips of the points. The number of people who replace their own set of points and don't follow these 2 bits of advice, and have failures soon after, is many.
  16. Nah, going to get a pair of 245-50-14's (the only size Eagers are still made in) and fit them to the front then move the 2 front GR-60-14's to the rear and keep 1 spare GR-60--14 in stock for just in case. (eventually I'll put the GR-60-14's on the 9" rims) Still waiting to hear if insurance is going to pay for a pair or if I'm going to need to pay for 1. Hopefully they pay for the pair because it's considered impossible to match them.
  17. Found a taillight it seems (see Clints reply above) tyres look to be sortable and the mirror is the next sticking point.
  18. Build Thread This is the part you need http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/performance/carburation-induction/auction-1356044285.htm
  19. Yeah they've had it on PT for 2 weeks now and managed to get a tailight but I think he said it was scratched and a corner is broken off. I think he has got that at least so when I take it away while trying to find the bits it will have working tail lights. Could just leave it to the panelbeater to find the parts but I'm fine to help out where I can. Will pop in and see him Wednesday and see how shits going anyway.
  20. Does anyone have hookups for taillight and mirror? Turns out that they are harder to find than good cheap scotch. /insurance is asking for me to hook them up, anyome got leads?
  21. These are headers made by Castle Headers for a 304 into EJ/EH https://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTYwMFg5MDA=/z/eDcAAOSwdGFYt6b4/$_20.PNG
  22. Worst thing is those tyres are a particularly cunty one to replace. They are a GR width which has no direct metric equivalent, they came off an American import with next to zero miles on them.
