  1. Does it have forged pistons? What are the usual weak points on these motors?
  2. Yeah will tidy the bay up a bit once shes all sorted etc. The wheel is mint! Looks like a new one. Would swap it for an oldschool nardi wheel
  3. seriously. engine bay looks fucking tuffcone. Such a good choice of colours! Turbo looks damn funny!
  4. I miss my KP.. Top work. Mint car, good to see the judges have taste still!
  5. Right. Off to get rebuilt turbo, tappets adjusted, oil leak sorted this weekend. I have been trying to toss up if I should keep this car or not. After the work I have put in so far it would be a shame to get rid of it already. Plus tis running like a champ at the mo. Get a few comments about how tidy it is too. Really the only thing that's letting it down now is the paint. It's not a powerhouse running standard boost so will probably take it for a dyno next week and "crank" the boost up to around 10psi then. Then maybe try and get it a bit lower.... So anyway. I want to get the pyramids looking a bit sharper. I was thinking of buying a small polisher (handheld) and getting stuck into them with autosol. Once I have done that I wanted to paint the lines in the wheels gloss black. Have seen it done before and it can look quite good. Anyone painted wheels before? Anyone reccomend a good cheap polisher? I was thinking something along the lines of a small black and decker type thing. Will post pics of her with spoiler off this weekend too. Toughts?:
  6. BRO, where did you learn to edit like that? Such a mint wee car. Looks quick too
  7. Why's that? Are they a fair bit cheaper? Same motors and stuff tho right?
  8. I like your work! Looks great now. Steels actually look fucking baaadass.
  9. thread steal... Its a good idea to re-tourqe after a few thousand kms of running a rebuilt motor yah?
  10. throttle stops ok. cable has some slack in it. its running silvertop loom and ecu. When I take the air feed to the ISCV off when the car is running it stalls, If I put my finger over the pressure nozzle bit that feeds to the iscv I can limit the airflow to the point where the car is pretty much idleing normally... ISCV seems to have power going to it, i can blow through it when the car is switched off, and when the key is on and the car is warm I can't blow thorough it so it seems to be operating to some extent. I think most of the plugs are plugged in etc so not sure where it would be earthing but it's worth another look. Idle up stuff shouldn't cause the motor to rev this high and surge should it? Gah. Running outa ideas. really need to get his mechanic mate to take it into the workshop and plug it into the diag util.
  11. yeah he thinks it is. have already replaced it with another one that was rebuilt... But I dunnooooo
  12. stepper motor. What does it do etc?
  13. Yo, Mate has a silvertop in his ae101 sedan that he just put in. Running well but it won't idle below 1800rpm and just sort of surges. Have looked at a few things (ISCV etc) and think its because he has no air con and the air con plug on the loom is not connected to anything. We know which plug would normally connect to the aircon plump. What I wont to know is am I reading this diagram right? And if I bridge the two pins will that close the loop. Not 100% sure this is whats causing it but its worth a try. Picture below. Have circled the part I think I should be looking at. So I should bridge pins 9 and 12 on plug L? Has anyone had an issue like this before? I know its not oldschool but a few of you are running 4ages etc.
  14. these bikes are just so cheap. I'm currently looking at getting a learner bike. Good to learn on? I have ridden bikes before and have pretty good balance etc... was thinking of something a bit sportier but prices for 250's etc are through the roof. Also looked at fxr's. GN's look ok and I imagine they are fast enough to still have a bit of fun on? or nah?
  15. was like "mean skidder", but now I just want a dirt bike.
  16. Also. How do I go about hooking up a shift light to a twin spark car? Two Coils...
  17. OH LORDY. I meant a factory ep70 turbo body kit. Sorry.. LIKA A DIS:
  18. Ok, fired it up this morning. Let it idle for a min. Turned it off. Waited 5mins, fired up straight away again. So sounds like a heat soak issue...
  19. Not sure if the 3tgte ECU supports a diag tool or reports via the engine check light etc.
  20. Yeah boy. Get it looking even more nana. Sweet wip. ep's are pretty sweet. Could even try and suss a factory turbo kit? They are mega.
  21. god I heart these cars. this has to be one of the nicest ones left for sure. good work etc. I like the idea of keeping it stock too. Plenty of hacked up/fast ones around if you wanted something to thrash but I'm sure this is awesome to drive as is. Drove a couple standard eterna zr4's a while back. No doubt they aint as quick but was suprised with how sweet they were to drive for a factory mitsi early 90's beast.
  22. are the boxes a bit weak? sounds mint. when does it make power? rev limit? Bet it sounds choooice.
  23. Installed a twin throttle body setup with forward facing exit. Has shortened the piping down heaps and made some room in the engine bay. Seems less laggy too. Have done around 1500kms on the new motor so far and its running well apart from a few small things (hot start etc). Also got a new heady (pioneer 2950 I think...) and some TSD1602R speakers for the front. Pauls car audio chucked them in for a very good price and even used some blue carpet that nearly matches the doors. Stoked. Running Alpine 4"s in the back. Really impressed with the sound quality of the speakers vs price ($190). Excuse the quality.
  24. Its running a 3tgte. Wouldn't a 4m be a step backwards? Or were you joking? It does sound like its flooded when she trys to start when warm. Looking forward to getting all these issues sorted anyway. I was thinking about selling it on but as I get things on it done I just want to keep it more!
