  1. It's usually up to a vin issuing agent (aa, vtnz, vinz, drivesure) to sort out ID issues Is the rego on hold? Or dereg? There is a form your certifier can give you which might help trying to sort it out
  2. Would need to get the go ahead from lvvta For some reason , doing anything with lowering gvm is not possible every time I've asked So then you're stuck with whatever gvm it has, and any replacement hubs/suspension components have to be able to handle that load Going from 6 to 4 stud won't fly either for the same reason
  3. If you can get to the back side, put a washer on for the rivet to grip onto
  4. More normal size wheels and just buy some decent tyres? Much less mucking around, unless it's for looks
  5. New S23 on its bum @36000km It amazes me how much of a difference new tyres make to a bike, doing the front one last year made it handle much nicer, now doing the rear has improved it a lot again. This tyre is the same size but appears slightly narrower which may influence it slightly? I dunno. Last time I rode it I had a couple of "wtf are you doing, have you forgotten how to go around a corner, you cabbage?" whereas this time I did not accuse myself of being any sort of vegetable
  6. The last one of those I did , needed extra mounts , as the tank was a lot bigger than original but still bolted in with 4x 8mm bolts or whatever an rx3 has Plus sealing the boot, making sure fuel can't leak onto electrical or exhaust etc
  7. Well done! Pretty cool that you and your partner just got stuck in and did it. Not sure what the story is with that sticky stuff but it's quite common on imports , had this in yesterday
  8. I thought since the tyre was going to be replaced I would accelerate the wearing process Thought I'd be safe at an intersection out the back of nowhere I hope the guy in the camry that appeared in my mirror enjoyed it.... In related news it has no problem starting a burnout in third gear but the tail light cops a bit of rubber and it has stuck quite hard to the plastic under the tail The tyre I want is $460 so the vehicles ability to do burnouts is useless info to me now
  9. You can lvv cert removal of air bags once the vehicle is 14 years old. Requirements are in the frontal impact standard on lvvta.org.nz
  10. Time for a new rear tyre I think this one has done less than 6000km Interestingly it has worn a lot more on the right side, I think that's because coming out of a right corner I can see better therefore it gets more beans
  11. im going to invent a religion like the amish or similar you cannot track me via devices in the heavens, only the almighty god/allah/jeebus/flying spaghetti monster/hypnotoad can track me, he came to me in a dream to tell me so. also you may not replicate my image in video or picture form with these devil boxes you call 'speed cameras'
  12. As long as they don't use it as some sort of backdoor "oh now we have this system, we can charge you for your rucs based on distance you've traveled " "Oh lol we can see how fast you're going, we never mentioned that did we? Here's a ticket"
  13. Not necessarily, in your case a sealed box, around the surge tank, with a drain outside and possibly reroute the hoses might be an easy ish fix?
  14. Yeah it will need to be sealed from the passenger compartment, either by sealing the boot 100% (harder than it sounds, rear firewall, parcel shelf, and up inside the rear 1/4 panels and pillars) Or, you could put it in a sealed box Or mount it outside the boot, under the floor a car that has a factory tank in the boot ie rx3 , if it's all factory then you don't have to change it. But if you made it efi, with a pump in the boot, then it would need to meet CCM requirements Pressurized fuel in the passenger compartment is the issue
  15. Short answer is no. Long answer is maybe, with a lot of fucking around. Lvvta has said you can make a new bar if you can prove it's the same as the original one. This is all we've been given, there's nothing in the rules yet, this is from training
  16. Related sharn, my mum had a Morrie when I was a kid, I remember the speedo needle was all over the place , including off the end of the speedo often down one particular hill, and even as a kid I remember thinking 'that's a lot of rpm mum'
  17. Nope, there's no minimum thickness, the design of the mount bracket is more important IMO than thickness. 4mm would be fine if the design is right. Even 'reputable' manufacturers get the design bit wrong...
  18. Could the strain gauge go in the engine mount? Would that lessen the wonky readings from bumps etc?
  19. Reg and paid , cha hoo
  20. Do you have someone you have annoyed in some way? When I was a kid, my dad had done something that I didn't like. He was rebuilding his wheelbarrow so I grabbed the axle and biffed it in the bush behind the house I never told him until I was in my 30s He was equal parts = you little shit = impressed that 4 year old me knew what part was critical and annoying to lose
  21. It's now a "grey area" It comes up fairly regularly as a lot of the time it's already been done when I see it Each time it comes up I send photos through to lvvta and they decide if it's OK or not I'd avoid it if you can as it creates unknowns, but if you want to do it, email lvvta first and see what they want /how it should be welded
  22. I can see many problems with it. I'd be fucked off if someone wrote my car off because they cable tied a bit of wood to a brake pedal so they could drive a big car (looks like a falcon dash to me) instead of doing it at least partially properly or choosing a car that fits them properly/better
  23. Looks ok to me? As long as it doesn't touch the driveshaft, should be fine. If you are worried about it you could make a hook or similar to keep it from getting closer
  24. A crisp high 5 to both of you for your rapid progress
  25. 1000% at least talk to a repair certifier first. I had a customer once who had to spend 13k uncovering repairs , getting it inspected and repainting it back to how it was at the beginning - ie just finished panel and paint.
