  1. ^^ was hoping to buy these 15" SSR Mk IIIs, but as I expected the bidding snowballed before auction end, and they ended up selling way out of my price range. so I'll just be trawling YAJ for a while hoping another set pops up, or perhaps settle for one of the alternative styles I had in mind. no big rush!
  2. aww man, I almost feel guilty for telling you about that PNV and potentially upsetting your planned progression with the Super but as you say, the opportunity to buy another PNV may not arise again for a while; ergo, carpe diem!
  3. mean, another RX owner Thing with these cars is they seem to be worth more if they ahven't been dicked around with, but they just respond so well to mods that teh temptation is always there
  4. churs boes in typical fashion there's already been dramas with teh car, while getting it onto a transporter to be taken from point of sale to the wharf the front suspension somehow got out of whack, so the driver's front wheel is now 20mm rearward of where it's supposed to be. Probably a bent lower arm or something, but still bloody frustrating! (and no one to attribute culpability to, you gotta love blameless japanese society at times) would loves to haves it complied by summer, but we'll ahve to see how my other projects go first. don't laugh your sister may be inside
  5. Having a bit of a rough time with the skylines at the moment. took the squid to an invitational dyno day at Torque on saturday, and it ran mega lean above 2500rpm (even on low boost) so I suspect some weird fueling issues (pump, pressure or injectors) And then this morning I went to start the coupe so I could drive it to work (after killing the clutch on my MR2) and it seems as though the fuel pump on that car has decided to cark itself in a rather uncanny/untimely fashion. Those two cars must be soul linked, I swear. So I now have two fuel system related issues to fix. Fun times, etc. dyno plot of sedan, it made 127.8kW at 4000rpm on 8psi - operators backed off as soon as the AFR rose above 14:1.
  6. what he fails to mention is that you're all gonna somehow get coerced into putting said lancia back together
  7. I bought a GT3071R with .78 twin-scroll housing for my FJ20, the extra grief of having to adapt a split pulse setup should hopefully be offset by superior response compared to either the .63 or .82 housings if not, then I'll cry, or something.
  8. I had an IHI VF8 turbo reubilt recently, cost me around $600 including materials. from talking to the guys at the workshop the charges would be similar for just about any turbo as long as nothing important needs to be replaced (such as the shaft, housings or wheels) process for mine involved dismantling, inspection and cleaning/bead-blasting, "rekit" (rebuild), then reassembly and balancing. After the inspection you get a choice of whether to proceed with the rebuild or not, depending on what the engineers find after the turbo gets taken apart. a bit on teh steep side perhaps, unless you get lucky and score a turbo off trademe for under $100 whereby it becomes more viable. Or if you have spare turbos lying around "just in case".
  9. I reckon the gold rims would look better with the red if the bottom half of teh car was a dark colour, e.g. black. in the same manner I don't think gunmetal rims work with the silver either. otherwise I'm liking it. Not many VBs left in good condition that haven't already been 'stupidly boganed' out, and even the engine conversion is a refreshing choice.
  10. only place in Aucks where I've ever had tyres stripped off the rims for free was a place up silverdale way I forget the name of now. it might have been due to the fact I was driving the coupe at the time and the guy behind the counter wanted to take some photos of it. Still a GC though regardless of that. oh and don't ever go to beaurepairs Vestey Dr, the manager "Afeef" is called that for a reason, he had the nerve to tell me $150 for stripping teh tyres off four rims was "cheaps as buddy"
  11. the fuel in my track car is at least two years old, and it continues to start without a hitch, tho I shoulds probably puts some fresh stuff in and change the fuel filter at some point before I drive it any long distance (e.g. to taupo in two weeks)
  12. dang, that's madness. I'd rock one fo sho, widebody is staunch. but they're probably rarer than cow's balls awesome site by the way. a bit amusing/sad how the guy just keeps finding more and more shit gone wrong as you click through teh pages. ::fake edit:: INJEKUSHONMIKISA! ENJINFURONTOKESU! SAIRENTOSHAFUTOBERUTO! TAIMINGUBERUTOROWAKABA!
  13. rear Ewings are back from repair. will get before/after pics up soon. cliffs: one of them was pretty well bent, the other just needed a lipping to clean up some gari scars. Now I just need to stick some good tyres on and we're away chortling.
  14. oh noes you've done it now
  15. hmm, DASH powered Sigma on trademe... http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motor ... 241168.htm if I didn't have a deathly aversion towards transplants I'd almost be inclined to stick it into, say, this http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motor ... 837110.htm and call it quits.
  16. Doit then. Saves me teh hassle
  17. not sure actually, haven't seen said vehicle. The dude apparently has a 'few' FJ20E engines plus a 'worked FJ20ET head capable of 700hp' for sale, so as you can guess he's currently all, "Boe you shoulds buys some of my shit"
  18. Yeah if I had infinite moneys and infinite space mine list would be endless also... but I gotta be realistic, so narrowed down my choices to a particular class/genre SB1 is teh obvious exception to the '80s turbo-sports-wedge-of-doom rule, but I ahve fond memories of testament's mum's old 'gonda'. Besides, everyone has to buy one 'silly little car' to complete their collection anyway! BTW I knows you just sunk a buttload of cash into your S21, but I recently happened to talk to a guy who's thinking of selling his PNV HR30 coupe...
  19. eheh man, ky you is a hater srsly though, I drove a TX3 every day for the better part of four years (probably one of the most hated types of cars in the 'scene', apart from hondas). As a result I am now immune to teh opinions of others - if you don't like it, too bad because I do The likelihood of a starion being my next purchase from Japan is pretty slim at this point, both due to a) not being able to find a GSR-V/DASH powered one, and RX-7 still takes priority anyway if anyone cares this is the list of cars I eventually hope to own Nissan DR30 Skyline: done and done Toyota AW11 MR2: done - although I would prefer a supercharged non T-top one Ford BFMRF Laser TX3: done (+1 track car) Mazda SA22C RX-7: hmm... yes please Mitsubishi A183A Starion: hmmmm... Honda SB1 Civic RS: Toyota MA63 Celica XX: OMG YUCK WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT
  20. ^^ yer photos would be cool if you/Prozac/whoever had any to share. Would help with the research (plus I just like having cool photos kicking around, it's good inspiration) hehe, I'd imagine so. probably not as bad as a 12A turbo RX-7 - 6km/litre "normal" driving from one of those is complete balls. But hey whatever I go for won't be a daily driver so what the hell. rogl, I was waiting for testament to come in here and spam "bananas". I'm glad he did, otherwise I'd have been totally disappointed
  21. cheers for the info so far guys. found a couple more brochures kicking round on YAJ, both have the GSR-V model after 1984 listed with the intercooled DASH turbo engine standard. so I guess that + what you fullas have said clears up more of the mystery. 200PS and 28.5kg-m of torque from a SOHC 12v isn't bad considering the last of the FJ20ETs had 205PS but only 25.0kg-m.
  22. sorry, instead of "SOHC G63B" I should've said "8 valve G63B" all this conflicting info gives me a headache. Although this line here corresponds with the catalogue my mate in Japan is sending over... it was released in sept 1984 for the 1985 model year, is the first one to contain any info on the DASH engine, and he says it has listings for the "2.0GSR-V/GSR-Ⅲ/GSR-Ⅱ" models. so hmmmmm maybe I'll just wait for that to arrive first.
  23. Any of you boes well-versed in JDM Mitsi specs? I is trying to figure out which models came out with teh Sirius DASH engine fitted as standard, as opposed to the filthy SOHC version, but accurate information is proving hard to find. a guy I know in japan is gonna send me one of the original sales brochures for the 1984 model year which has DASH info in it, so one would assume any Jap spec Starion made after 1984 would have that engine. but so far I've read all these conflicting statements on teh interwebbles saying that it was a) only an option for one specific model year, only sold in a specific trim type (GSR-V?), or c) only the widebody Jap Starions had them (which sounds like an outright lie) browsing the yards doesn't yield much of a pattern either, as most cars don't have engine bay shots, and the ones that do are all G63B SOHC or astron powered. yeah, I'm still thinking about improting one if I don't find a bananarama.
  24. Fuck I'm slack. I threw the SSRs on teh coupe before trackday last year, but I haven't even got around to taking photos of them fitted. and it's now March, so here they are: look mint in teh photos, but could honestly do with a hearty sand-down and respray. Just another thing to add to the bottom of the ever growing list
  25. rofl, the Turdric lives on
